N64 games that can fit into the DCs RAM (full list)

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

N64 games that can fit into the DCs RAM (full list)

Post by SinisterTengu »

Ok  , I compiled this list so everyone can see all the games that have the possibility of being emulated on the DC. This includes all games under 16MB, but not equal to 16MB, because there will be room needed in the RAM to store the data for the emulator itself. Hmm. An emulator that could play all, or even most of those would still be *VERY* nice.. Heh.

The 12mb ones won't work.... don't forget you have to emulate the N64s RAM (needing 4mb) and load the emulator into RAM so there won't be enough to go around in that respect....

Most likely there will never be an n64 emu. If at all it will be a long while, dont expect anythin soon.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking the 12MB ones wouldn't work, since that leaves only 4MB to spare, but I wasn't sure, so I listed them too. That kinda sucks, because that leaves out a lot of great games like GoldenEye 007and Star Fox 64. Thats fine with me though, because I have both games for the real N64. To tell you the truth, I don't really care if an N64 emu comes out for DC, I still have all the great games for the real thing.

Also, how would you use the controller? Way to little buttons on the DC, way to much buttons on the N64. Maybe configureable controls? Super Smash Bros has all four C-keys being used, but they are all jump, so you can kick off three buttons for THAT game, etc.

BTW, what is in your avatar? I've been diying to ask...

Yeah, configurable controls would be the best way. Plus, hardly any of the N64 games use the D-pad, so we could probably make use of the DCs D-pad for the C buttons or something.

And as for my avatar, it's EvilTengu, the final boss from Dead or Alive 2. I am not really into DOA that much, although I did get DOA3 for Xbox. I don't even know why I chose it...you can see a bigger picture of him here. I can't really find a better picture right now...

D00D!!! Even a EMU that can play the 4 and 8 meg games... That would be SWEIT!!!!! OMFG!! That's AWESOME!!

Mario! Mario! Mario!

BTW: I'm all in favor for having a control config menu. Even if it is just a "HOLD R AND D-PAD-R FOR R, R FOR 5 SECONDS FOR R". Or, just a key substitution selector... I KNOW that I've NEVER played ANY games that had a seperate control for EVERY button....

Well, not much of course... I mean, I don't like Mario say $20....

As I stated above, the point was to show what games could even be emulated, so for all those people wishing to play their favorite games, think again. I know this will probably never happen, and I couldn't care less if it did, because I have the real thing, and all the games I need for it. This was actually kinda discourage people from making one I guess...just to show that most of the really great games have no chance of ever being emulated on the DC.

The THQ wrestling games (WCW Vs NWO, WWF Wrestlemania 2K etc) use every button and controller on the N64 except the Z (trigger) button... Turok 2 was pretty damn button intensive too I seem to remember with all of its change wepon type/ jump / reload etc buttons...

In WWF games... the Z trigger is used in conjunction with C-Up and C-Down so players can join/leave control of a character in a Royal Rumble :D
It only takes one tree, to build one thousand matches
