Firmware for HP 9100

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

From http://www.ping.be/satcp/writer03.htm
The Sony CRX140E and the HP 9100i (which is nothing more than a rebadged Sony) don't have an 8 MB buffer, but they do support the reading and writing of CD-TEXT information and what's more important; the drives support DAO-RAW with the complete 96 bytes subchannel what makes these drives ideal for copying protected CDs. The drawback of these drives is the slow audio reading speed of only 8x and the lack of C2 error retrieval make it less suited for those who want to copy lots of audio CDs using the Sony as reading device.
I dunno if you can flash a 9100i with Sony firmware, but I would strongly consider the fact that you might end up with a dead burner. Pursue at your own risk.
