A topic to collect the answers to 'whats my sig from'
Thought I'd make this to collect the thoughts of anyone bored enough to figure out where my sig lines come from, this should save on topics cropping up in the wrong place. AbsoluteXero was right, my current line is from an Iron Maiden song, in one topic he even gave more lines from it!. However to clarify the rules, I want the name of band & song (& album its from if your'e feeling cocky), the name of film or the TV show its from (& if your'e still feeling cocky name the character who said it). Hopefully this will collect the ramblings of those of you who are bored enough to attempt this. Note that occasionally it wont be a song, film or TV show.

For those who get really bored, try to figure out where the line above comes from. Put answers in here http://www.dcemulation.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=6188

Robert Jordan's The Wheel of Time series
Lan tosses this quote out to Rand when Rand starts whining about being the Dragon Reborn.
Book 3 or 4 is the first utterance of it if I still remember the series as well as I once did.
For reference, your sig while I am typing this is (something close to)
"Duty is heavier than a mountain, Death is lighter than a feather"

Guess MY sig!
I've given you the author, now guess what literary work it's from. Yes. it's actually from a story. And, even though it's a fanfiction, you won't find it where you expect it.

Mr. Monkey eyed Rinoa. "Darn, how many times did your
parents hit you with the ugly stick?" he said. "You are ugly

know what? YOU SUCK!"-Fritz Fraundorf

It may have been used then but I'm thinking of an earlier time, plus I've never heard of Imperial Precepts, what were they?. Think when swords were state of the art weapons, thats all the help I'm giving on it.ZacMc wrote:Duty is weightier than a mountain / Death is lighter than a feather. -- Imperial Precepts to Soldiers and Sailors, 1882

I'm changing it since it's been a while, so heres the answer
'Duty is weightier than a mountain while death is as light as a feather.' from the ancient Japanese Bushido code, figured someone would have got that as the day before I put it in there was a documentary on TV about Kamikazes which said how they were fed that line.

I hate it when people think "Du Hast" is about hate.
Those three lines literally translate into.
You. (Du)
You have. (Du hast)
You have me. (Du hast mich)
The English lyrics do not make any sense at all.
Just for reference the FULL line in the English version is "You hate me to say but I do not obey." In german it is "Du hast mich gefragt und ich habe nicht ersagte." (Translation: You asked me and I didn't answer. -- Literal Translation: You have me asked and I have not answered.)
