a convertor for smd files

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Put grom in the same directory as your genesis roms

Open up a command prompt and type in

Code: Select all

cd C:\directory\where\your\roms\are\
then type

Code: Select all

grom -bin *.smd
it will then convert all of the smd roms in that directory to BIN files
It's thinking...

Who said it was for SEGAGen? Apparently DCGenerator runs *slightly* better with BIN's (and I think at one point wouldn't run SMD's at all) so it could be for that - there is no actual mention of warezing going on so let the discussion continue

Isn't there a gen emulator for dreamcast? Maybe he wants them that format for his pc then can use the same files for the gen emulator. I infact have all the files converted to bin and whould use the same format on dc, on my pc OMG i'm a criminal now?

Blah does it REALLY REALLY REALLY matter? Anyway I'm guessing hes doing this to use em on PGen, the PS2 Genesis emulator.

Fatilety (a tile editor) is really better than Grom to convert your roms. You should try it.

Actually PGen works A LOT better with SMD file types. But who cares, saying BIN files are illegal is like saying MP3s are illegal.

Just follow |darc|'s instructions for GROM, it's a lot simpler :).

It looks like Fatilety is more accurate than Grom but it can only convert one rom at once. Open your rom and go to "Ferramentas" then "conversor SMD para Bin".
