It's got its own box so I think it's real. I guess they could make a box but I highly doubt they did.

One part of me says it is not legit because I find it strange that all us dreamcast freaks never heard of it, though on the other hand, he would not only have to be a pretty good artist, but he would have had to spent some money on makeing that crazy looking box :D .

Did you know that the DC served in the acades as well? Good. And exactly these arcade DCs have been refurbished, tested, and rebuilt into a normal DC, all under the strict quality control of Sega. The result is the limited R7 edition. It is very rare, only 10,000 units have been produced.
- console pack includes one joypad and all neccessary connection cables

Damn you noobs. Its legit. They took a bunch of Disply DC not used anymore after dc was out of preduction and made these box's and cases for them. Then they sold them all off. Theres 2000 of these units.

This device turns your DC into a real arcade machine.
- compatible to over 200 games
- use your DC as a coin-up arcade machine
- all adaptors included (Jamma, Joystick, Coin)
- supports PAL/NTSC consoles/games
- DC console not included
- you must have an arcade cabinet to install this item, it is not a stand-alone unit!

Here is one for the Playstation 1.

Anyone heard of these before?

Not even close. It's definetely legit, but these models where used for display.
Old Naomi arcade cabinets refurbished into a Dreamcast case. It's an ugly model with absolutely no extra's. I like all the other special models better (except the Sakura Taisen box).

The print looks cheap.

I've seen those before - I think it was on Lik-Sang. I remember you could get one for the Mega Drive as well. It had a 10-cartridge slot, and when you put the money in it started a timer. When you had two minutes left the screen would flash green as a warning so you could add more money. I don't know if those work in the same way though - it'd be cool if they did.

These are rare models, but they're not the rarest.

The original Japanese DC model had a 33kbps modem.

R7 Dreamcasts, which are Jap, have a 56kbps modem. And, as Dutch said, they're made of refurbished Naomi parts.

Actually, the Sega Sports DC has nothing to do with the R7, except they're both the color black.... The R7 came out waaaay after the Sega Sports one did, so it was hardly an "answer"... the Sega Sports models include the same modem as a normal DC and the parts aren't from Naomi parts..
It's thinking...

Its a standard DC

=====================================================

There are atleast 5 special Edition DC's that are far rarer than the R7
