From what I understood previously was that Sega would be neutral but the development houses (AM2, Sonic Team, etc.) could pick and choose as they liked.
But if they are going to be platform exclusive across the board, wow. I really can't say who they would pick.
XBox has the most Sega exclusives thus far (Crazy Taxi 3, Jet Set Radio Future, Panzer Dragoon Saga)
Nintendo has the only non-Sega consoles that Sonic has ever appeared on.
And Playstation 2 has the largest installed user base of the three.

Since the PS2 has a weak ass reason, my money would be either with Nintendo or Microsoft.

I was just reading a magazine a month or so ago (forgot the name sorry) And they ranked which consoles was selling the best in it. They said the PS2 was the best seller, and Nintendo Gamecube was runner up. Although Xbox has the lowest amount it is still produceing enough money to keep Microsoft happy though.

I think Sega will piss a lot of people off doing this. IF they was going to do this they should have done it from the start. If they go to Xbox I won't be buying Sega Games anymore since I have no desire to own a Xbox. And Sega don't make enough games to make me want a console JUST for them anymore. I never liked the vf series, I lost interest in the Ecco series on that last game. Sonic games are pretty good, but not worth a console purchase for what few will be made. I don't like Sports or Racing games so that throws them out. I actually never got into the Panzeer Dragoon series that much. I used to own 1 and 2 and I liked 2 but didn't like 1.

I wouldn't write off the PS2 - having the largest installed user base would equal money in more sales, and the lure of money can be awfully tempting for a company; especially one that has had money problems in the past like Sega has.

lure of money? sega always had trouble with luring in money. heh doubt they will go to ps2. like we all can agree, sega rather uplift quaility then cashing in $$$.

Man im sick of all this Ps2 bashing that goes on in these forums. I dont know why everyone in these damn forums has something against the ps2 but im sorry it is the best system out there right now. The xbox has a few good games but thats it. I repeat a few. The system may be awesome on paper but i would definatly never ever want to buy it because of the lack of games. Now the gamecube is definatly a good system with good games. The problem is if your buying a gamecube ur getting games that are not for mature people but aimed torwards kids. I have nothing against nintendo since i own almost all there systems but i just feel that Ps2 is a lot better then them. Ps2 has all of the best games and is an all around wicked system.

but its true. Sega releases for the ps2 are weak. right now they are favoring gc and xbox. that can not be denied.

like you said ps2 will have the mature gamers, gc i can't say its kiddy cuz re remake scared the shit outta me, and xbox will be for those hardcore online gamers.

knowing sega, i might want to speculate that xbox will get the the nod of exclusives. sega would love to utilize their broadband usage. i dunno just a hunch.

Well, I'm sick of all the xbox bashing. Does this mean i'm gonna turn around and say that ps2 sucks? No, I'm not.

gamecube i think, probally ps2, but gamecube would be better.

sega team said they liked dev for it or some crap, plus nintendo also has the gba, if sega suddenly decides to go exclusive to any other console besides nintendo, they can kiss the portable gaming market good bye.

so to speak money wise, they will make more money with nintendo becouse the combined total of gba's and gamecubes that are in place right now are probaLLY HIGHER, or will be higher than the ps2.

i'd love them to be with Nintendo.
First off, they both have had a lot of years in the video game world. I would see Sega having the most respect for Nintendo, as they are still around (20 years) and still make good games. This all coming from Nintendo's #1 fan

Not true. Xbox has "Munches Odysee", one of xbox's main launch titles, and that went to the GBA.

I also say that it doesn't matter what system they go to. Where ever they go, I go.

I hope they go to Xbox...

It's the most powerful platform... which means Sega will have as much freedom as possible for developing... Most powerful system, easy to dev for, broadband online play, etc. The only thing its missing is a ton of good games. I think it would bring out the creativity in Sega, and give the Xbox the ton of new games it needs.

They hate ps2 cause it was the system out that helped drive the dreamcast under. By the time Xbox and Gamecube was otu Dreamcast was pretty much gone. And they dislike it cause its the least powerful system of thse 3 on the market now. Course if you like a game with good graphics your stupid, but you gotta own a Xbox cause its more powerful

I really doubt that they would stick to PS2 because it doesnt seem like there makin any games for it now (with few exeptions). I think its between Microsoft and Nintendo and I were gonna bet on it I'd pick GC cause they already made it Sonics new home, PSO's new home, plus more that I cant think of now. But then again MS does have Crazy Taxi/Jet Grind Radio.

there are still a few big ones comming out.... panzer dragoon and shenmue.

Looking at this from a developer point of view!

The PS2 is hard to code for, is the oldest hardware, and is already being talked about replacement (PS3) in the works. The sales are huge, but from what i've seen Sega has always gone for developmental freedom and going their own way, we can see this in all their consoles.

The Gamecube has a huge child user base and some mature users. It is easy to code for as far as I can see and it allows them to use their own servers for online games, that's a plus. It's currently selling Sega's titles faster than the Xbox. Also, SonicTeam (who makes none other than PSO and Sonic) favors the GC, that's a big weight.

The XBox is easy to code for, and is by far the most powerful. The online is controlled only by microsoft, which may be a deciding factor when you look at PSO and all other sega titles that may use online, but on the other hand the Xbox already has broadband support build in, but no 56k...

As far as i can see, the PS2 has a chance, but more slim than the Xbox or GC. Between the Xbox and GC i have no idea which they would go to, but if i ever bought another console it woudl be the one with Sega support.

I really think that the whole issue is a lot of hot air. Sega wants to be the #1 publisher. That is why they stopped supporting the DC and going multi-console. Their 1st year of multi-console support has brought them closer to profitability than they had originally anticipated. Their stock holders would not approve of such a choice and their stock would drop even if it was for going PS2-exclusive. Sega wants to be taken seriously, and they are in it for the money. Going exclusive would be contrary to both ideas.
