Resident Evil: Port History

Post by cube_b3 »

All the Resident Evil games have been designed on consoles and ported to other consoles and PC I rescently read in an interview that Resident Evil 5 is being made for the pc and then ported to consoles.

Does that mean that the consoles are crap or something, I just find that diffrent.
____________
Useless History: read if you've got nothing better to do:
I know that Resident Evil 1 was designed from the ground up for Playstation and was ported to Sega Saturn and PC.

Resident Evil 2 was designed from the ground up for Playstation and was ported to Saturn, N64 and PC. The PC build was ported to Dreamcast and GameCube.

Resident Evil 3 was designed from the ground up for Playstation was ported to PC and Dreamcast, the Dreamcast build was ported to Gamecube.

Resident Evil Code Veronica from the ground up was designed for Dreamcast ported to Playstation 2 and the Dreamcast BioHazzard Complete build was ported to Gamecube.

Resident Evil 0 was designed from the ground up for N64 and was ported to Gamecube and then the Gamecube build was ported to Wii although they should have just released an update which would allow the old build to be compatible with the Wii-Mote.

Resident Evil 4 designed for Gamecube ported to PS.2
PS2 build ported to PC
Gamecube build updated for Wii (again they should have just released an SD card update or something which would give consumers more value of the orignal gamecube release rather then a fucking rerelease).

I think you got it all there. Quite ridiculous. Mind you I own all the releases on Dreamcast. My personal favorite is Code Veronica.

Yes, PC gamers are Herculean exemplars in comparison to filthy console gamers such as yourself.

And a GameCube remake. And now a Wii port based on the GameCube remake. And wasn't there a Gameboy Color game in there somewhere?

Also, there was this GBA tech demo:

Just by seeing the title alone, I knew this would be a BILAL_XIA post.

Yeah, there was, though it isn't a port of anything.

Jesus that framerate sucks. Looks more like a JRPG than an action game... USE-GUN-ON-ZOMBIE. One frame per action ;).

Good thing it was only a tech demo.

Not according to any release list I've seen. Only Playstation, N64, Dreamcast, GameCube, and PC.

I personally think this thread could be expanded into a Resident Evil Retrospective, and Bilal should head the operation.

There was also a planned Gameboy Color port of the original game that was never released. It isn't that hard to imagine why:

I admit that I missed out the Resident Evil DS port and it is my mistake.

I don't count the Gamecube port because it is an entirely new game, any arguments.

As for all you other assholes my facts our very well sourced:
http://capcom-europe.com/history.aspx?y ... s=-1148.35

According to Capcom's official site Resident Evil 2 is released on Sega Saturn!!!

Ohhhh then you're clearly right. It's impossible for a company to make a mistake. Congrats on the asshole comment as well, insulting everybody for no reason is definitely a good way to improve your standing on these forums.
