Emulation and Vista
Hey, guys. I recently bought a new laptop with Vista installed, and it can really pack a whollop compared to my old pc, but niether Chankast nor NullDC will boot up my CD-R Dreamcast games from the drive, and when I make an image it can't be booted either. The emulators just keep going to the music player in the DC bios. Please tell me. How the heck do I get Dreamcast games running on Vista? I mean, I can finally play Nights into Dreams at full speed, but I can't even play Powerstone like I used to on my old computer. Please help.

Well, IT works, but the games won't boot! Is it my DVD drive or something? Also, is there any way to get rid of the crackly sound? I don't remember THAT on XP.

Re: Emulation and Vista
Well, loading from both the drives and from disc images of all types works for me.
As for the sound, that is a Vista problem, the fix is here:

I don't even have those lines in my NullDC cfg file. Damn...I can play Panzer Dragoon 2 straight from my disc drive, but I can't play Sonic Adventure? wtf?

Re: Emulation and Vista
Okay, I got games booting now. I guess I just had to re-download the CDIs because my new drive doesn't like my copies. BUT, I still have a HUGE problem! What the heck is up with the sound?! It's terribly distorted and the so-called "Vista fix" does nothing for it. I have a Realtek HD sound-card and the games themselves run fullspeed, but I just can't get good sound. PLEASE help! PLEASE...

Re: Emulation and Vista
Ugh...No. I was trying to say that it's sad how my computer can perfectly emulate such a difficult system and read actual game discs straight from my drive, but it can't even read my self-booting Dreamcast CDRs properly. I know it was kind of unrelated, but I was trying to stress my concern. Everything's fine now, though, except for the horrid sound caused by NullDC in Vista. I just want to know if there's a fix out there or not. Sheesh...

With that attitude I'm surprised people aren't flocking here to help you.jessman wrote:Ugh...No. I was trying to say that it's sad how my computer can perfectly emulate such a difficult system and read actual game discs straight from my drive, but it can't even read my self-booting Dreamcast CDRs properly.
