Come Play Natural Selection

I was gonna bump the old "Come Play CS" topic, but, uh, its not CS we want to play today :P

If any of you feel like playing the RTS style HL mod Natural Selection come visit the dcemu IRC chatroom and loiter until theres a game going; if you've neevr played it before but want to know what all the fuss is about, thats even better - I've played it twice and still have no real idea what im doing, so it would be a perfect opportunity to play without getting owned on a public server

Damn...Computer ain't got a GFX card at the mo...Haven't been paid yet...What a sad time. I have a sudden urge for playin HL too...

HL plays pretty well in software rendering on a P200, so anything more modern than that will be able to cope with it even without a 3D card (I assume you have SOME KIND of graphics card in there so you cana ctually use it :P )

This isn't HL..... it's NS.

My 450P3 with a Gf2MX hardly ran it.

Psst, Nyar... Natural Selection doesn't support software rendering mode yet....

OpenGL seems to work best.

Natural Selection is one of the most demanding HL mods yet. Especially on servers. A few of the maps have a few hundred entities in them, and that's BEFORE players and player-made entities...



Damn, I missed it..... My connection has been down all day...

Hope you got around to getting a game on. I don't even know if anyone really played last week when I left my NS server up all day.

We never did play - NS was messed up and wouldn't let anyone connect to a server, so we played TFC.

My HL kept crashing on me for some reason, but when I got back after rebooting from TFC siggler had a server up and running, and people able to connect and everything!

Of course there was noone else there to play....... but he knows how to make it work now! so everyone come along! :D

Wow! So let me get this clear. The time between Siggler showing up and the server starting might be less than 6 hours? :lol:

Anyone wanting to join a game of Natural Selection, or just want to give it a try, come swing by the DCEMU IRC channel tomorrow (Saturday)morning.

We'll take things easy and try to teach any new players how to play and all.

We want to try and make this a weekly thing, either on Siggler's server or my own, whichever is available at the time.


For those that don't know, Natural Selection is a new Half-Life mod that is essentially a cross between a First Person Shooter and a Real-Time Strategy that pits human space marines against an infeststion of alien beings.


For downloads, screenshots, and The Manual, go Here

[Edit] And yes, you can use this mod with Counterstrike Retail, all you have to do is make a copy of the Counterstrike executable and name the copy HL.exe

For all your game launching needs, go check out The All-Seeing Eye

It's sort of like gamespy, but without the lameness...

Actually I've regged #NS for just this purpose, so if you cant find a game in #dcemu jump over to #NS

Gorg, Lerk, and Onos AL|EN models and I use THIS PACK for all my marines - I just think they look cooler ingame

great skins. yeah people join up. game is very intriguing and is not for dummies.

i think one time i was an alien and damn nyarl still killed me with a knife. that was probably the most embrassing event in my online gaming history.
