The NES Max controller could be pretty cool. The 'Turbo A' and 'Turbo B' buttons could be used as Dreamcast 'C' and 'Z'. You could have almost all of the Nester menu controls available. The only button on the DC controller not available would be the 'B'. I never owned a Max controller. The nostalgia...

The VGA cable will work fine. You can also use a nine conductor cabe for NES, as Arrowhead pointed out above. The only reason I used the joypad extension cable is that it allowed me to modify PC controllers with their original cables. Like this one: http://devcast.dcemulation.org/gallery/ted/SideWin...

There are accessories for dremel tools that are a lot like a router bit. The sharper the tool that you use, the less friction and less heat generated. If the plastic is not too thick or hard I will sometimes drill holes to define start and stop points on a cutting line. I very sharp, quality utility...

Did you ever get a chance to see the actual unit, SANiK?
I'm curious how the back looks. If he remounted the original A/V jack or used his own jacks. I've sometimes considered mouning RCA jacks to my DC, eliminating the need for the console specific AV cable.

I have not seen that exact problem. Does this occur with retail games, with emulators, or both?
What LEDs did you add? Where do they draw power from?

SANiK, That looks very cool and I want to beleive that it is real. That would be impressive. All three pictures of it look like they were copied and pasted on to that background. http://images.stoko981.com/dchotrod1.jpg http://images.stoko981.com/dchotrod2.jpg http://images.stoko981.com/dchotrod3.jp...

I'm not sure why you are looking to avoid the IC, unless you have a problem with availability. There is room within the console for a small circuit.

I cut the 3.3 volt trace and installed a 5 volt LED. I jumped to the 5 volt line in the power supply board for power.

http://devcast.dcemulation.org/gallery/ted/gallery7.php The pics at the bottom are of a VMU power mod. Not very fancy or high tech. I just cut a piece of plastic the same size as the battery door. A small plate and a screw make contact with the battery terminals. I used an in-line connector to switc...

If you sent me the all of the parts that I specify, $30.00.
I would also charge $30.00 plus the price of parts if I buy them myself.
I can send you some pics of my prior NES mods if you would like.
It probably sounds like a lot, but it takes time to do a good job that will last.

I built one for my Xbox last year. It works with 480p, 720p, and 1080i. I stuffed my notes in a folder somewhere. I could scan them and e-mail them to you. I got a lot of help from guys at xboxhacker.com's forums. I used a few ideas from other people's projects to help me get started.

The Dreamcast already can generate a true VGA signal. The R, G, B, HSYNC, and VSYNC signals are present at the A/V connector. All that is needed is to short pins 6 and 7 to ground, that enables VGA mode.

The mod wasn't too hard. I did it around four years ago. I sent a summary of the process to the hardware site where those pics are posted. I sent it yesterday, so it should be up before too long. Sorry to all those that have emailed about it in the past, I just had never sat down and recalled what I...

You could add a jack there, but it will be an audio line level output. It will drive headphones to an extent, especially if they are of a low impedence. I would recommend adding a headphone amp for this. You could add a volume control and, more importantly, it would prevent the risk of eventually da...

I don't have a site to post a pic, but I made a replacement battery door for a VMU. I just cut a plastic piece out close to the shape of the original. I then added parts to contact the battery terminals on the inside, and wires for them coming out of the back. I terminated the wires with a jack to c...

I'd be careful about that. A good battery charge ciruit includes detection of a completed charge state to prevent damage to the battery and charger. I would also carefully watch the current the circuit draws. DC controllers ports burn up fairly often and an increased current draw will only shorten t...
