DC VMU power supply question
i was looking through the hardware faq and saw this topic of plugging the VMU into a wall power supply:
http://www.dcemulation.org/phpBB/viewto ... r=&start=0
i clicked the links to see pics of the wall power supply but they were hosted by fortunecity and theyre down now, and i wanted to know if anyone can perhaps fil me in on a guide to making this thing real quick?
I know that he explains how to make the thing, but i live in iceland and dont really know what everything is in english (know most of the icelandic names but not nearly all english, and i know how the stuff looks like) I have a 4.5 V, 6 V and many, many more power converters but I?m just not sure how i was supposed to plug it into the VMU itself... maybe solder some wires or something? plz help a beginner out
any help/info would be greatly appreciated.....
(p.s. here in iceland, there is no such thing as a radio shack.... there is a shop or two in town that sell this kind of stuff, but i have acess to pretty much every part i ever need in my school though (learning electronics n stuff))

The power supply needs to give off 4.5v (although a 6v one may work fine), and its current really doesn't matter. Anything upwards of 300ma will work just fine.
Connecting it is pretty simple. Just connect the wires from the AC adapter to the battery clips. Make sure to respect the polarity of the connectors.

erm.... which battery clip in the DC VMU is plus and wich is minus? and just to be 100% sure.... the wires on my adaptor are 2, and one of them has a white stripe on it while the other is just plain black..... i want to be 150% sure wich polarity is wich, as not to blow my mem card, so is the wite stripe wire the plus?

The wire with the white stripe is positive (plus), and the black wire is negative (minus). Give me a second to check my memory card and I'll be sure which is which, although if I remember correctly, the one in the center on the bottom is negative and the side clip is positive.

Well both of my CR2032s are dead, but I was correct earlier; the bottom is negative and the side is positive.
And a 6v AC adapter will work just as well as a 4.5v one would. In fact, a 3v one might even work. I can't be sure, but I wouldn't be suprised.
(Welcome to the DCEmu Forums, btw.)

If I am thinking about the right mod, the person who did it used a headphone jack out the Front (the end with the indention on it) to bring the power in.
Anyone with a better memory than I have care to comment??

I don't have a site to post a pic, but I made a replacement battery door for a VMU. I just cut a plastic piece out close to the shape of the original.
I then added parts to contact the battery terminals on the inside, and wires for them coming out of the back. I terminated the wires with a jack to connect a battery ot a wall power supply. If you want me to I'll send you pics.

i just got an idea of what you could do. I rigged my vmu up to a 9 v battary as well. I went to the electronics store and bought a little bag of 10 9v connectors. It was pretty cheap. I drilled a little hole out the bottom and soldered it up in there. If you get a bag of them, you could connect one to the vmu then reverse one and splice that will the power cord for the wall. that would be an easy quick connect and you could still hook up a battary for times when you are on the go. I don't know if that makes sense the way i explained it. I never can tell.
