Which setup do you use for your Dreamcast gaming ?

Post by Christuserloeser »

So far, I've been using my Dreamcast with my 19" CRT monitor via VGA (480p), and a 29" SD CRT via RGB SCART (480i).

Since I am currently looking into hooking up my DC to my new 4:3 CRT HDTV, I thought it would be interesting to know about your setup.

What TV do you use and with which connection ?

How is 1080p even possible, I thought the DC was only capable of 480p. :?

It is only capable of 480p. But 1080p TVs will take input from 480p signals. :P
It's thinking...

Scart RGB for TV output, and VGA for on my PC monitor... That is, until it died :(

So you're saying it upscales it to 1080p?

Some do, some don't. If they don't, the picture will look worse than on your standard SDTV/EDTV via RGB/S-Video.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I've got my DC connected to my CRT monitor via my VGA box and it looks as perfect as anyone could ask for. Then I tested it on my brother's brandnew LCD monitor and it looked horrible. :o

It's because it has a native resolution of 1280x1024. Anything below that resolution really looks awful. We even had Windows XP set to 1024x768 before... Then we switched to 1280x1024 and now the picture can compete with my CRTs.
