How many storage devices do you use?
Just curious. I just reinstalled xp, and as i'm connecting all of my hard drives i'm deciding if i should just get 2 of the 1TB hitachi drives.
For me, i've got:
2 160 GB Hdd's. (one with vista one with xp)
1 80 GB hdd for "storage"
1 100gb 2.5" external
1 300gb 3.5" external
160 GB hdd in my laptop
80 GB ipod
And i'm starting to run out of space. Well, maybe not run out, i've got about 100gb's left if i add everything together but that's still only 1/10 available.
So, where do you stand?

Re: How many storage devices do you use?
Heh, up until an hour ago, I had 3 hard drives in my computer (every single one of them were 80GB). But now that I have this new one, I'm down to two. As for a detailed list, here it is:
New PC:
74GB WD Raptor
320GB Hitachi
Old PC:
Three 80GB (2 WD, 1 Seagate)
Laptop:
60GB Hitachi
External:
80GB Seagate inside a generic enclosure connected directly to the computer
Another 80GB Seagate in a generic case that's attached to my router
80GB 2.5 Maxtor that came out of my laptop that is now in an external case
Other:
2GB Sony Microvault flash drive
30GB iPod
...and I believe that is it. I mean, I could go into more detail on the other drives I use (like the 20GB 360 hard drive or the 250 Xbox hard drive), but I'll leave it here. As for free space, considering I have only owned this computer for less than a day, I haven't had any opportunity to even test this 320GB drive yet. And with my old computer, two drives were around half full and one sat completely empty since I never found anything to put on it. Despite having a ton of hard drives, I hardly have any use for the space.

Would you be mirroring the 2 1tb drives? One advantage of so many seperate drives you won't lose too much if one drive fails.MKE wrote:Just curious. I just reinstalled xp, and as i'm connecting all of my hard drives i'm deciding if i should just get 2 of the 1TB hitachi drives.

Re: How many storage devices do you use?
Actually, none of it is porn, and while i do have some warez it's not all of it.not just souLLy now wrote:maybe delete some of the warez and porn once in a while?MKE wrote:Just curious. Flight simulator x takes up 15gbs itself, plus all of my cad software, then the games (doom 3 +roe, NFS MW and Carbon, Quake 4, etc) , 30gb's of music (which i have copied on to all of those hdd's just incase. i've lost it once i will not do it again) And then i have all of my movies on my computer for media center.
As for if i'll mirror them, probably not. i'm using almost 1tb now, so i could see me needing both. But i also won't have them in a raid configuration just incase.

Just the one, I'm waiting on the price of those 750GB SATA drives to drop a bit before upgrading.

Re: How many storage devices do you use?
I'm currently needing a new hard drive.
This computer is running on a 10GB harddrive.
All my music and files are on other computers.
