DCaSTaway Release Candidate 2

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Post by DcSteve »

Chui has released 2 updates to this emulator today. The 2nd update was a patch that fixed a sync problem with the earlier RC2 release. Grab it at

So this emu actualy runs fullspeed with sound. That's cool. I've never owned the system but the games look kind of amiga-isch so I definitly want to try this, now I only have to find myself some games :)

The Ultimate TOS Software Index seems to have a lot of freeware games:

Right, I guess until 1991 most Amiga titles were converted for the ST (or the other way round, eg. Thaolin software - I guess that's the reason many Amiga titles are supposed to make only use of 16 colours at once)

I'd like to play some of the strategy/rpg stuff, but you'd need a proper saving feature for that, don't know if that's implemented.

Of course there's some nice arcade-like stuff available on this computer too (e.g. Rainbow Islands)

There are some good ST conversions of Amiga games such as Speedball II and Turrican II. But yes, when the ST was more popular than the Amiga, many ST games were just ported to the Amiga instead of using the Amigas full power such as Robocop and Backlash. Look at the difference in quality on the Amiga between Robocop (which was ported) and Robocop II (which wasn't) although I actually prefer the gameplay of the first game!
