Silver LE Dreamcast

My brand new silver LE arrived today. For those who are interested, here are some pictures:

i definetly agree. it looks a lot more sleek ,and not cheap looking like the white body looked. it looks much more next gen than the orginal

better hunt down D-Direct one then as I remember it being completely silver - top and bottom...

That is the D-Direct one. I have had 2 and they both are Silver and black

This is the real deal, yeah - it's the Sega one that was sold on D-Direct.

The final price including EMS shipping from Japan to Scotland was $568 American. I decided to go ahead and bid on it because they seem extremely rare (200 seems to be the 'word on the street' for the number produced) meaning I'm not too likely to see another pop up on eBay too soon. Also, the UK Pound is really strong against the $ right now so once the currency was converted, I was happy to pay the price for it.

BTW, I think the standard white Dreamcasts look pretty nice - sort of like an elegant iPod look before their time (like everything else about the poor console

)

Wow, its nice. Is the controller plug a kind of smoked black (Like the Xbox plug) or just matt black?

Also, the UK Pound is really strong against the $

this is pure black replacement shell for DC with no Sports Edition logo on it.

I couldn't decide whether I go with pure black or smoke black one...

It's matt black, as are the analog stick and d-pad. Interesting choice because I'd imagine that any of the other white peripherals will look a bit strange plugged in! Of course that wouldn't be a problem in Japan where you'd be able to use your Dream Bank points to order more controllers with black plugs

There's some really skilled modders on here, so best of luck and I'd love to see any pics. The black Dreamcast logo on the console really finishes it off though, is there any way of replicating that?

Well everythign will be easy. Untill that. Honestly I think I will be able to just paint black on the white parts. (by putting tape over and cutting the tape off then spray painitng ti black for a good look). If it however is holograpfic (which I think it is?) Then I will nto be able to copy that. I can how ever make it look black. Also I am pretty sure of my self being able to do that. I mean it just is a paint job. My current mod will put that to shame.( I am building a radiator small enough to fit inside the casing of a dial up modem to liquid cool the dreamcast and extending the psu to make it external so I can put a tube in it then doing it black with red lights, tube is red. Also going to put leds under the lid so it glows udner the window). Trust me this is an insane mod. I do think I could replicate that LE dreamcast though.
EDIT: I just realzied the letters are white. I think I could paint the dreamcast words on, and have it look orgnial still though.

Hmmm, trying to do that work small (especially the painting) sounds like it's getting very, very messy. It's not holographic, btw.

As for the paint jobs, I've never seen any except my own (awful) ones - can they ever look as "genuine" as manufactured consoles?

Only problme is by the power button. because I did nto want to remove it so I put tape over ti which left that white part. besides that it is almsot perfect.
