I want to know if anyone on here has ever been prescribed Accutane and their experience taking it.

I took it a few years back, didn't really help. Dried everything the fuck out though. What eventually worked for me was.....SOAP! Heh, I use Lever 2000 for my face. I rarely have breakouts; like once every 3 months. Just something most of need to try and live with.

Drinking lots of water and eating a bit healthier helped me as well.

Accutane has mentally changed me. I just stopped taking it, after about 3 months of severe depression, anxiety, insomnia, suicidal ideology, and impairment in my social activity. I just wanted to see if anyone here had a similar experience.

And yea, Accutane didnt really seem to clear my face up that much either.

I was offered a perscription for Accutane but I turned it down. I continuted to take minocycline and my face is pretty clear now. I have gone from two a day to one every two days.

Well, I couldn't comment on that, I had many a problem in my teenage years. Not sure if that deserves a smiley face or a frowny. :)

If you need extremely specific information, I could look it up in a drug book for you.

My brother took it, it first dries up all your pimpils (looks worse then reg pimpils). After a month or so you could see the change a lot. After 2-3 months there were no more pimples anywhere. He had it on his face and back. The worse thing about it was the mood swings. Anything you do to him would get him really angry.

I took Accutane, and it completely got rid of the acne on my face. I still get zits occasionally on my back and shoulders, etc., and I'll get one or two on my face now and then, but Accutane improved my situation incredibly.

It's only something that should be prescribed as a last resort, though. If you are at a dermatologist that prescribed it before trying everything else, then I would find a new dermatologist. Judd - sounds like you had that problem. I had already tried Retin-A, Tetricycline, and at least five or ten other medicines that had little to no effect on my acne.

Accutane carries with it quite a few frightening side effects, and your doctor needs to make you well aware of what those are. I didn't really experience any of them, but if you do, they can be scary.

You may need to watch your sugar intake while you're on the medicine, though. Your doctor should be taking blood samples at least once a month while you're on the stuff. When I was taking it, it shot my sugar level through the roof (so that I was close to having a heart attack) so I had to cut carbs almost completely out of my diet (and this was before the Atkins diet was all the rage).

Like I said, though, I couldn't be happier with the results. I took the stuff for a few months (you only take it for something like 12 weeks, and then you never worry about it again) and have never had a serious acne problem since.

Just out of curiosity....

How many of you people with bad acne are
1.Under a lot of stress
2.Don't drink much water?

When I had really bad acne, I was not under a lot of stress, and I actually consumed about a gallon of water every day.

Proactive is the best thing i have ever had. after tons of perscriptions n such that didnt have much of an effect, this stuff is great. i had some really bad problems with my face, but after about 6 months everything is gone, and i still use it. it takes about a month or 2 to see good results. but after about 6 its great!

I tried proactive before, it really does work. I saw results after 1 week. I didn't have much but it really did help.
