Online-gaming ONLY works with the HIT-0400 !
If you bought the HIT-0300-Adapter, you got screwed ;)
Its the 0400...

out of curiosity, whats wrong with the 0300 that online gaming doesnt work with it?

Btw, if you're using 192.168.X.X (which is somewhat uncommon) your netmask should be 255.255.0.0.

I omitted the 3rd part of the IP: its a 1, which is the same IP segment that the router provides by default.

So my router is 192.168.1.1, machien a is 1.2, dreamcast 1.3, etc.

well I cleared the DNS entries for the BBA (instead of providing my cable providers DNS entries), set the BBA to DHCP automatic IP address, and voila - it works!

w00t

Now to see about PSO...

You can connect with the NTSC US version as well. But if you have V2 you need to have a serial number that was once registered with Sega. Or something like that anyway.

If the homebrew server would only work with PAL versions it wouldn't be very useful right now, because the official PAL servers are still up. ;)

great. well, i never had one registered with sega. i bought a brand new copy thinking i wouldnt need a HL.

so am I done? this experiment failed? the fAQ should be updated to reflect that an existing hunters license that was at least at one point registered with Sega is needed

Yes, unless you find a serial that works, or the guys that are making the homebrew server find a way around this issue.

Which FAQ? The homebrew server is in no way connected with dcemu and as far as I know there are no FAQs about it on this site.

Derived, I can help you with the serial I think. PM me if you would like further assistance. I haven't played online (have the pc one now), but can point in the right directions.

Here is the official site for the server. The site is clean I believe, if not please remove the link.

DNS

Post by nz17 »

This may seem a silly question, but if the point of using a CodeBreaker is to change the DNS server to Neo-Ice's to redirect a game session to the homebrew server, then why is a CodeBreaker needed at all? After all, every PlanetWeb DC Web Browser allows for changing the DNS, and Marcus Comstedt's Flash Internet Settings Adjuster can be used to change the settings without the official Dreamcast Web browser.

well, the servers dns is not stored in your flash rom, thats why you need a trick to make the game connect to the homebrew server instead of the one saved in the game.
the dns settings in your isp infos are not connected at all

Forgive my naivity and further questions, but then do users of the BBA also need a CodeBreaker to use the homebrew server? If so, which codes, if any, are the same between the modem and BBA users? If not, what makes the BBA users access different to not require codes?

Done, there is now a shared serial number for v2, a free dialup ISP, and a link to download the codes directly so you dont have to spend forever typing em in.

(I don't know why I didn't think of this before, I'm so stupid!)

Hmm... I think you can actually register your NEW serial at schthacks site.

Anyone with a new serial, that was never tried online go to:
http://pages.globetrotter.net/ctrep/singup.html

There you can put in your serial/key.

This isn't an edit, but continuation from what I just typed:
Ok, I have since looked at that site and the Register page, but too many users have been registering the same key. So... if you contact schthack some how, he might be able to add that serial/key to the server list and thus let you play with a serial that was never registered* :D

*I have no idea if that's how it works, but I assume so because that's the impression it gives me. Basically it seems like you're getting a hunters license without going to sega
