GenesisPlus DC DL's + Discussion

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

I used to use the AV cable for video and one of those adapters to run a line from the headphone jack on the genesis to a stereo. Cool setup back in the day.

Yeah, I've got a v2 with Stereo A/V cables myself. But you can always route the stereo sound from the headphone jack (just keep the volume slider low) and to your TV/reciever.

I'm sure you'll get it sorted out eventually anyway, and I'm sure you'll tell us what is going on (because you always do, which makes me wonder where all these topics come from :D).

Please, take your time and read the entire post before begging for it. Everyone get to live without it, just wait for Blackaura's word.

just to give u an update, mekanaizer has been hard at work fixing the sound in pvr3's source code because the pvr5 was missing the voice emulation. Pvr5 sound was ok, but pvr3's is clearer. As soon as mek is satisfied, he will send the src to ba, or to me so that i can get it to BA so that perhaps a new official src release with some of the gfx errors fixed by ba may be put out.

You're going about this with great fashion but its not really needed. A simply .txt file saying this port was by BlackAura sound and various other fixs by Mekanaizer.
Thats all you'd reallly need. Its open source you're allowed to do whatever you want with it.

Sure is. Not only are the digital sounds (voices, some drums) missing, but the volumes are all weird, and there are other minor problems with it too. I did a lot of modifications to the sound code, and some of them obviously broke something. You should be able to turn them all off, but it doesn't seem to work properly...

Aside from some other highly experimental stuff, PVR3 is pretty much the last known good working version, so it makes more sense to work from that. Still, I'm going to drop back to the original source code for some components (like the original VDP chip emulator), so I can re-enable the software renderer for games that need it. They should get close to full speed with no sound.

That's the thing. Its no technnically needed to ask permission to Blackaura, but it signal of respect.
This is a comunity.

I find it necessary to point out that most of the time, mekanizer uses a highly modified version of the kos 1.1.6 TA version to do his pvr stuff, which is probably where he is gaining any kind of speed.

Well, unless he rewrote the entire thing, I really doubt he's using that. The later, experimental sound version required KOS 1.3.x because it's using SPU DMA to transfer sounds over. All versions require a version of KOS with the PVR API (and it does 99% of the work by itself anyway, so using the TA API would gain you nothing).
