On a serious note, the practice of circumcision was started during a time when people did not have access to good hygiene and would get infected. Unfortunately, poor hygiene still is a problem, and many guys end up having to get circumcised as teenagers because they aren't cleaning themselves well enough down there and it gets infected.

BTW, if any Christian ever tells you that the Bible tells them they have to be circumcised, that was part of a law that only applies to the Hebrew people.

Performing unnecessary surgery on all because a small number might require it in the future is ludicrous. Why not remove all appendixes at birth whilst you're at it?

Some interesting comments on circumcision cropped up in a Slashdot article earlier today--including mention that some legal scholars believe there to be no lawful basis for non-medically-necessary circumcision under the law of England and Wales.

I was simply stating facts. I really don't have an opinion on the subject.
