This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.
LoganGBC wrote:well, to anyone looking for the source code to SRB2, a copy is included in a RAR SFX exe named SRB2Src109.exe inside FinalDemo109.exe (FinalDemo109.exe is also a RAR SFX exe) from the download page
you can also get a copy via subversion checkout at svn://lawarias.game-server.cc/SRB2109
(note: svn:// is not a URL you use into a web browser, it's for subversion clients)
He also mentioned that he and AlamGBC can be contacted via IRC at irc://irc.esper.net/%23srb2fun

There weren't any news on this for quite a while, but I've PMed with Vangar who is in contact with the author. The problem with this thing here and at DCEmu UK was that it's WinCE based and near impossible to port to KOS. Anyway here's Vangar's reply:

DCEmu UK would now support a release even if it's using Windows CE.
I know he is still working heavily on the project but there has been no new releases as such. I will ask him next time if he is planning a release again soon.
Ah, that's good news! I'm relieved
I tried to email him several times but didn't get any reply. - Thought he would have abandoned the project and the Dreamcast port... >_<
Tell him that we now do support his project, no matter what development kit he is using
Can't wait for the next version

I finally got onto him.
(11:43 PM) = Vangar = - I'l: well the moderator seemed keen to know more about it so he asked me, lol
(11:43 PM) = Vangar = - I'l: hows it going?
(11:46 PM) (d)Taxman(d): a lot has been done since that last DC test, but i haven't been able to work on it for like a month heh
(11:48 PM) (d)Taxman(d): so did they have a discussion about wince or something?
(11:48 PM) = Vangar = - I'l: no idea, the admin pmed me
(11:48 PM) = Vangar = - I'l: i guess his interested in it
(11:50 PM) (d)Taxman(d): but yeah, umm there's some screens floating around
(11:50 PM) (d)Taxman(d): of the special/bonus stages and EGZ boss
I just tried to get this working, (having no knowledge of anything Homebrew for DC), and it sort of works, it shows the green letters, then goes black, and just sits there... anyone know what I did wrong? (I followed the guide from earlier in this topic.)

Hmm, I seemed to have spaced out on the last post, Yes, I complied it myself, and also a big thing I forgot to mention, is that I am on a Mac, which at first I thought was the reason for it not working, but I tried to burn another dreamcast disk, and it read that one, so yeah.
I see, but what do I do with this disk image? My computer doesn't read it.

Hm, I heard it's not that easy to get .cdi files burned on a MAC (or Linux). Some info/help can be found in DCEmu's Mac forum: viewtopic.php?f=48&t=44095
DCEvolution's website is offline due to being hacked in last December. The downloads itself are still on our server --- although you have to wait until it's back up... I would say you probably should try again tomorrow.

Quite impressed, though it has no music - aside from the collection of rings etc but no level music. (any thoughts)
I would not however, say it is the best sonic game, but enjoyable enough to play.
I was just wondering if anyone could compile the latest SVN of the Dreamcast version. I'd like to test it out.
I have a Linux installed on an older PC of mine, but I have no way of connecting to the internet. I really don't want to hunt down, and install, the dependencies one at a time (if even possible).
Here's the thread where I had asked for help: SRB2 Thread
