More concerts then I can count. We have a really good local band scene around here and salt lake, so if you're bored with friends it's never hard to find a $5 concert and 9 times out of 10 you'll get a really good band.

arrowhead wrote: How was pennywise? I want to see a pennywise show, 311 as well.

Pennywise shows are an onslaught of energy from start to finish. They're easily one of my top 5 favorite live bands. Their live album "At the Key Club" captures the essence of their show pretty well. If you see them, be prepared for lots of middle fingers, tons of circle pits, and cannonball stage dives.

311 puts on a great show as well. They're one of those bands that can get you singing along with songs you don't even like. I liked 311 before seeing them, but after the show I had a whole new level of respect for them.

I've seen System of a Down three times now, once with The Mars Volta opening which was sweet. I saw Slayer and Slipknot coheadline a show. Primus on the "Tour de Fromage." Dream Theater twice. And coming up in June, I've got tickets for The Police reunion tour! Add in tons of local shows and I've been to many concerts.

311 Day '04 was quite awesome, 68-song setlist. I was at the show the DVD is based on.
It's thinking...

I've been to dozens of shows, I live in London so basically anyone that tours in the UK will play a venue somewhere near me at some point. Some good memories of seeing:

AFI
The Offspring
A Perfect Circle
American Head Charge
Korn
Slipknot
36 Crazyfists
Poison the Well
Skindred
Killswitch Engage
Will Haven
Scarling
Dillinger Escape Plan
Ephel Duath
Deftones
Green Day
Devil Sold His Soul
Pitchshifter
Thrice
Spineshank
My Ruin
Lady Sovereign
Auf De Maur
Mad Capsule Markets
Dredg
Nine Inch Nails
System of a Down
Further Seems Forever
N*E*R*D
Otep
Ill Nino

Yeah some of those are crap nu-metal bands but I really liked them at the time. I'm gonna be at the Download festival this year too, so should be seeing a few dozen more :)

Obviously the song should be better on a concert than on the video.

Ph also.. Glam Metal = best guitar solos

as I'm not familiar with a large portion of the bands on his list.
Coheed and Cambria core sound is heavily influenced with guitar

Mars Volta is another example and it has a lot of prog elements to their sound. Just to point out they care more about raw sounding than getting the perfect sound while performing live. IMHO this band is the greatest band to go see live today.

I liked them better live when they were still with ATDI. The Mars Volta is still a good band to see live.

They did have a more raw sound live and more energy in their live shows too. But musically Omar and Cedric have expanded beyond ATDI

Everybody I know is just going for Muse. I wish they'd just get a good US tour going.

I prefer ATDI to the mars volta too. Call me a philistine or whatever but when I saw them live it was a two-hour mostly improvised set where they didn't play any of the popular songs off of the only CD that was out at the time. Boring and pretentious didn't begin to cover it. It was more my girlfriend's idea to see them anyway at the time.

At The Drive In just had a bit more energy and rawness, not that I was ever a major fan.
