Inducer questions

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

Inducer questions

Post by joe »

i have several questions regarding dreaminducer syntax and meaning that were not directly addressed in the new relase

How do i put background music in my menu?

What does the 'A' parameter do?

in the theme file what does "number of elements" correspond to?
<LAYOUT ELEMENTS="NUMBER OF ELEMENTS">

in the intro files what do the "DELAY" and "NOFADEOUT" parameters do?
<IMAGE SRC="/cd/intro/gsbanner.png" DELAY='180'/>
<IMAGE SRC="/cd/intro/loading.png" DELAY='0' NOFADEOUT='1'/>

thats it for now. thanks in advance for your help.

Not in this release.

Alpha, or opacity. 0-255, an integer that specifies the "transparency" of the item.
joe wrote: in the theme file what does "number of elements" correspond to?
<LAYOUT ELEMENTS="NUMBER OF ELEMENTS">
The number of items inside the <LAYOUT> tag

Delay is how long to show on the screen for, NOFADEOUT prevents the picture from fading out (NOFADEIN prevents it from fading in).

cool thanks a bunch.
1 question though:
for A: does it become more a solid color the higher or the lower the number is. like if i wanted a completely red color that was compleltly solid would i set it at 255 or 0?

thanks for your help; and one more question.. is the 1st_read.bin for the DI disc just a copy of inducer.bin?

thanks man.

Now that I don't remember. I think solid is 255, but don't quote me on that.

1st_read.bin should be a scrambled copy of inducer.bin ..

This is emu specific. I believe SMEG does indeed allow you to do this, but I cannot recall the key combination that must be pressed (check it's README).

no i mean get back to the dreaminducer menu. like this:
on my DreamInducer disc i have this:
SMEG, gnuboy, nester, homebrew games,etc.
i select nester fomr the Dreaminducer menu; i pick my rom whatever play it, and quit it and im back to nester's menu; i want to get out of nester totally and get back to the Dreaminducer menu to pick another application like smeg. is there a way to do this with out reseting the DC and seleceting it from the dreaminducer menu again?
