Dreamchess.

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

I hate it, it beat me 20 times in a row (I love the game, but I like to curse at it.)

I am glad I am not the only one. I ussually do okay against people, but then again when I do play people they are as stupid at the game as me :-)

We'll try to add some weaker playing levels in the next version. :)

As mrsiggler.boob.co.uk has been taken down we've had to put up the demo files somewhere else. The new URLs are:

Dreamcast demo: http://www.retrovg.com/dreamchess/dreamchess-demo.zip
Windows demo: http://www.retrovg.com/dreamchess/dream ... -win32.zip

It's been over two months since the demo release and unfortunately we haven't received any usable themes or 3D models yet. I'd like to reiterate our request for art. Any help would be appreciated.

Chess sets. ;) Although it doesn't have to be a classic set like the one we have now. It could be something as simple as textured geometric shapes, or something as complex as actual characters. For use on Dreamcast the pieces should be around 150 polygons on avarage.

My Sonic vs Mario theme is done, but i fear it cannot be redistrbuted as it contains copyrighted arts. Just like any BoR mod.

Yeah, ironic isn't it? We can't use the one theme that has been made.

Seriously though, maintaining the DC port of DreamChess takes a lot of time and effort. Considering the limited interest in this project from the DC community the future of the DC port is insecure at this time.

New Windows demo: http://www.retrovg.com/dreamchess/dream ... -win32.zip.

Changes:

- Pieces can be moved with mouse (click on piece, then click on destination square).
- Playing-as-black bug fixed.
- Rudimentary saving support (push 's' to save, and 'l' to load, while in-game).

Why? there's plenty of non-Dreamcast stuff that has the word "dream" in the title.

true, but in this case, what does the word dream have anything to do with the game. Certainly not a catchy title for a pc chess game.

And why would that be? "Dream" signifies perfection: ie: the realization of one's dreams.

That's definately a catchy name to me. It seems to me you're just clutching at straws.

While I would hate to see development of DreamChess for the Dreamcast stop, I don't think they should have to change the name if it does.
