I hit a dog and now I've got a dent in my car

Post by Vlad Tepes »

Tonight I was coming home from my girlfriend's, and...I hit a dog. Now I have a friggin' dent in the right-front of my car. I've got full insurance coverage...so...do you think they'll take care of that? Oh...and...the dog is dead...if you're wondering. So...wha'da ya think? Will insurance cover it...or am I SOL?

Dude, to be honest, I dont know. With a dent that big, you either need a huge carcas to prove it was a huge dog, or they might not fix it because you had to be going fast as hell for a normal dog to make a dent that big. They might start asking if you were speeding or crap like that, and maybe try to say it was your own fault because you were speeding. Im no lawyer, but insurance companies will do anything not to pay for the claims they recieve.

ROFL

Your insurance should cover it. Mine covered my car accident, which was my fault. However, you might want to see if they will jack up your premium for something like this. Its an odd situation.

I suggest fixing it yourself not through the insurance company.

Why? Its not worth getting your premium up and affecting your no-claims.

I think Siggler did magic.

Still, I don't think deleting posts was the way to go.

I'm done with this board.

They've been split and moved to the Deletion Forum. Not the best move IMO.
It's thinking...

Well, I wasn't speeding. I was going about 45MPH and the limit was 55. That front panel is made out of fiberglass or some kind of plastic. Either way, it's not the most robust of materials. That's why the dent is so big. I called the police and they came out to do a report. The officer was really cool. He told me that my insurance will cover it. I would fix it myself, but those damages are probably gonna cost around $1000. And yep...it's a Camaro Z28.

You should ask the owners of the dog to pay for it.

Well...I'd much rather pay a $250 deductable than $1000+ it'd cost to fix it.
