Is there any interest here for...

This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

A "Space Invaders"-like game? (btw, I forgot the name of that genre, so if someone could tell me...)
I'm planning on getting at least a beta (hopefully more, cuz I want an "alpha" in science... and it's my science project :) ) out by june or july, and I was wondering if it was worth the trouble of finding someone to host it or making the page myself.

The difference will be in special weapons and anything else my partner and I dream up...ammo will be "sold" in between levels. Input IS accepted for the game, but don't count on it being used.

The game sounds like it should be good, e-mail & pm 007Cheater about getting a hosted site, at the very least we will upload it to the site so people can download it once you've released it.

What's 007's email? I can't find it on the site, maybe I'm having a loss of brain activity or something...btw, is .c the unix extension for c++ files as well, does nobody write for the dc in c++, or is c++ unsupported?

If you're just wondering if it'll be posted anywhere, we'll add it on our Homebrew DC Games page of course when you release it..

Only jackasses don't appreciate all of the hard work that goes into making any piece of software, let alone Dreamcast software. The game sounds like loads of fun, and I can't wait to try out the first release.
Stupidity should be painful... Now if there were only a way that I could tell n00b13z how to make selfboot emulator images... Oh yeah!

I've really been wondering, what is the genre my (edit: our) game would fall under called? I've totally forgotten, and "Space Invaders"-type is too lengthy...

is this in anyway based on "Phoenix" or "Phoenix II" for the TI83+ calculator(LOL)? Sounds like it, and i loved that game. it was like space invaders except in between levels u can buy guns and health, i loved that game during those long math and science classes...too bad i cleared my ram...o well, i get the game off someone tomorrow, but yeah, was this an inspiration of some sort? just curious, cuz that game was mad fun.

:D Wow! I remember wasting away hours playing that on my TI-89. Ah, nostalgia.... Anyway, that is the first thing I thought of when I saw the description. Will it be 3d graphics, or 2d sprites?

It would be called "Shoot Em Up" I guess.

I am looking forward to this. I hope this is "alpha" material!

Good Luck!
It's thinking...

Hehe...Phoenix rulz!! It's like my only good calc game! Somewhat inspired, but the game may not have an unlimited fire rate, and special weapons will have to be refilled constantly. The way it's planned right now, the score will be in spacebucks or something, and you will start with all the special weapons but they'll all be empty. Buying ammo will take away from your score, so score will partly reflect how reliant you are on special weapons. The only problem here is my utter lack of art skillz...

(edit: the game will most likely feature 2D graphics in the first couple releases, if I can find someone to help with them AFTER the first release I'll consider beefing them up)
