Im sticking with winamp 2.
Its turning into musicmatch jukebox.
the pro, the media libarary, the cd burning, the cd ripping. Its all falling into the big scheme of american corporate shennanigans where nothing is good unless it makes money.
But now Ill shut up, seeing as I am a part of american corporate shennanigans myself.

I fear its turning into a piece of big bloat.
Its turning into musicmatch jukebox.
I couldn't agree more. I'm sticking with the version I use now as it does everything I need.
Two Q's:
1. What is the best tool for ripping Cds?
2. Why is it with all the programs i have tried they get the songs in the wrong order and i end up having to manually rename them, is it the CDDB i use or what?
3. If it is a crap CDDB whats a good one?
Cheers

use MusicMatch Jukebox for ripping cd's. MMJB rips cd's into mp3's flawlessly and fast, and it names the mp3's in order too every time too.
As far as Winamp turning into MusicMatch goes, not at all. Winamp 5 is just as simple as it used to be... With video support... There's no pro advertising or anything on the current version...

Yes, because Winamp Pro isnt out yet, and technically neither is Winamp 5. Its a beta version. The pro version is coming out, its already been announced.

I use to think that MusicMatch was the best for ripping CD's. Sure, it had a lot of banners, adverts, and useless crap, but it would rip CD's great. But then I discovered Exact Audio Copy. I was able to make it do everything MusicMatch could do, including putting them in correct folders and naming them how I wanted. The only difference is that it doesn't have all the extra crap that MusicMatch has. So yeah, try EAC.
Remember, Winamp was shareware to begin with anyway, and it did used to nag you on occasion to go and pay if you'd been using it for more than 14 days.

They have to make a pro version if they include cd ripping, to pay for licensing. Unfortunetely, they'll also feel they have to add other stuff to the full version as well...
Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest... Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly...stupid.
