REEB Returns!!!
Ok, so I wasn't sure what forum to put this in, so I'm putting it here damnit! I posted in null a while back, but I'm not sure if everyone who wanted to know reads the reeking cesspool of null.
Anyway, obviously REEB, the vertical shooter that I was working on a few years back, was never completed. However, it's making a move into comic book form at http://www.stillnoname.com/reeb.
Just thought some of you would want to know.

Re: REEB Returns!!!
The graphics were done for the first level, all of the menus, and some of the rest. The sound was done for the whole shebang. The coding was done for most of the first level.
And then a HDD crash destroyed just about everything and I more or less quit (I was left with a couple of PSDs and the raw audio) because I had no (ok, few) backups.

Re: REEB Returns!!!
I remember really looking forward to this back in 2004 or so. It's a shame you lost all that data.

Bump of the dead.
Impetus, thought you might be interested to know the Penguin Death Squad finally made their appearance this week.
That is all.

Re: REEB Returns!!!
ah, OK - I see what you mean. Cool, man.
The ships look a little different than I had designed them (as I recall mine had penguin faces and big black gauntlets for fists) but I still spotted them immediately. Nice, and thanks for mentioning it.

Re: REEB Returns!!!
Glad you like them. I thought about just updating your design, but everything else ended up being colourful, so some alterations needed to be made. I figured you'd at least recognize the fists.impetus wrote:ah, OK - I see what you mean. Cool, man.

Re: REEB Returns!!!
Hey, do you still have the source code of REEB ? or maybe even a working [pre-]alpha version ?

Sorry, all source was lost. Some of the audio and graphics remain, but the source is gone.

BTW - What's the significance of your domain name? I'm guessing it doesn't have anything to do with the old DCEmu member "NoName" (a.k.a. "TheGatesofBill"), right?

Re: REEB Returns!!!
They certainly do have a certain resemblance to the Ravens' logo... Now you've made me wish it was football season already. Those aren't penguins. They're Baltimore Ravens.

Re: REEB Returns!!!
Silly football fans. It's modeled (and coloured) after the Pittsburgh Penguins logo (well, the head of the logo).
Also, I'm fairly sure my domain name was there long before him. We couldn't think of a name for the site, so we referred to it as noname for a while (while the site itself was in development). After a good chunk of time with nobody coming up with a name, we just went with stillnoname. Meaning has since been retconned in, but that would be another long story. Either way, that was way back in 2003, and I don't think that was his username at the time. If it was, just random crazy happenstance.
