What if SEGA had made a handheld game system instead of DC?

Do you think they would have fared any better?

(Do not read this as an insult) Did you read my first post? My goal was to cram everything into the metallic case. I mentioned that the GDROM unit was too large, therefore I would be cutting a hole in the top of the case so that the discs would not be spinning inside. In recent news, yesterday I too...

In going with the console spirit, why bother with a hard drive that large? Or why bother with a CPU that powerful? -its not a bad idea, but one could build one for cheaper and get the desired results.

I woulnt say large necessarily, but it certainly is thick. Anyway, I just did a comparison. The case I am currently going to use is a full two inches longer than my other CD drive case, as well as my DVD drive and my CD burner. Therefore it is oversized. (And I didnt even realize it till now) ______...

The drive is an eight year old 2X cdrom drive. Everything does not quite fit, the GDROM drive, (without taking away the metallic base holder -of which I am not planning on doing) is about a quarter of an inch outside of the top of the mettalic case. I am planning on adding a hinged door/flap like th...

Case mod: DC inside an internal CDROM drives metallic shell

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to make a tray come out or anything, I am just trying to cram the DC guts into a new case. -namely, that of an internal CDrom drive. I have already taken measurements, and everything fits, with the exception of the power board, and the GDrom unit which is no large...

Well, this sounds like a good idea, yet it is very difficult. For the last few months, Ive been messing around with creating one, yet as XantiaX said, the GDROM is triangular, while the CDROM is square. Factor in that the GDROM is much larger, and the cd tray rises up through the tray, (yeah I know ...

I was the one who had the spindle problem before. :) I had tried to raise the turntable as well, yet whenever I raised it, it would just pop back down again under its own weight. (You may potentially be seeing this DC again) As far as the video, youve probably already checked this. (Probably first t...

I dont want to get too far ahead or anything, especially since I dont know much about handheld PCs, but would it be possible to create your own BIOS for a handheld PC? I think the OS is flashed on a chip, but I really dont know. Perhaps a homebrew handheld?

In order for everyone to have around the same parts, locate an old laptop that was popular in the day. Then buy off of EBAY for little $. As far as BIOS is concerned, perhaps a stripped down version of Linux since its open source? Also you may be able to get a larger following among the open source ...

unfortuanently not... Over this last week, I have tried settings ranging from 850 to 640-30 range. (With plenty in the seven hundreds just in case.) Yet, none of them seemed to work. The DC was unable to read every sort of media. Including GDroms, CDrs, and CDrws. If you are curious as to the effect...

NE1 with launch or 1999 model DC want to do me a favor?

I misadjusted the potentiometer in my launch DC's GDROM drive, and when I reset it back to 700 Ohms, it still did not read anything. This causes me to suspect that the potentiometer was originally set to something other than this. Would anyone who has a launch or 1999 model DC do me a large favor an...

Multiplayer does not work in the following games

Bomberman 1-5 (all of them) and Bruce Lee Perhaps it has to do with the multitap? both of these games support it, yet do not work with more than one controller plugged in. Hmm, good news indeed, I better take it out of the box under my bed and check all the connections I can.

Where exactly is this pushbutton switch? Is it near the pot? I think I will take a look-see.

I win the award for not understanding what I was doing.

The Ohms registered at 2000, I had been looking under the DC voltage meter on my voltage tester.

I officially cooked the laser, as now I returned it to 700 ohms and it continues to click and not work.

Well, yesterday I measured it and tweaked it back to the 700-710 range, and it still does not work. Nothing works, and the laser still makes the clicking noises that I dont remember it ever doing whenever it tries to focus on a disc. _____________________________________________________________ This...

Although I was sure that I had put it to the same position.

-didnt check it with a multimeter yet though
