Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
Just built r119, and it's working very well on PPC under both Tiger and Leopard! I tried a couple CV games and they worked with no problems at all (once I enabled a BIOS file). The new changes to the keyboard config UI are great, a huge improvement. Two tiny issues -- first, on the SMS front: of the...

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
Ooh, CV support! Very nice, especially given the rather grim state of CV emulation on OS X (at least on PPC). I look forward to checking it out.

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
EDIT: There... Done with that, including mapping whatever you configure as the Game Gear start button to the SMS pause button. Uh-oh, I'm now getting crashes with r96 every time I try to change the keyboard input settings in Tiger, including the GG start/SMS pause. The crash happens as soon as I've...

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
[The only thing that isn't fixed is the SN76489 channel enable/disable -- that's still doing more or less what it was before, I think? I tried trashing the prefs but it's still not working, i.e. not preserving the state of PSG channels between loads. Do you mean between quitting and restarting the ...

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
It gets used for gameplay? Ugh... Leave it to these companies to do something so silly as using a button that is ON THE CONSOLE ITSELF in the playing of a game... Yeah, there are a few games that use it. Streets of Rage uses it for a special weapon, and at least 1-2 games use it for bringing up a s...

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
Well, everything seems to work nicely! The sound is obviously a billion times better, and the preferences appear to be working properly. Thank you for the detailed explanations of the bugfixes, they help me to understand what's going on a bit better. It makes perfect sense that an endian-ness issue ...

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
Fantastic, I'm off to download and build it! I had a look at the diffs for those bugs -- very interesting, I'm not sure I 100% understand what's going on but was endianness the issue in the sound bug?

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
The black screen is gone under Tiger too, but I found a new (?) and highly reproducible bug on Tiger with 0.2.0 r81: 1) Open CrabEmu for the first time (or at least without a /Users/~/Library/Preferences/net.ljsdcdev.crabemu.plist file). 2) Go to Preferences. Attempt to configure button 1 for Contro...

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
Should be fixed now. Update to the latest SVN revision. Built on Leopard, and the black-screen issue appears to be gone. Thanks! I'll try it under Tiger shortly. As an aside, I saw that particular issue when I tried to compile initially on my Mac Mini, hence why I said I had to try to get it runnin...

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
Built successfully on Leopard without build errors (though with the same behavior of the Help Indexer or whatever it's called), but the sound problems remain. I tried editing sn76489.c as you suggested, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Also, I'm seeing another issue, which was also present i...

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
Probably... I'll have to try to get it running on my only PPC-based Mac (a first-generation Mac Mini) and see what's going on. I don't have a time-table on when I may be able to do that, as things are about to get very busy with my work/school, unfortunately. Understood. I appreciate whatever you'r...

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
Try taking the constants on lines 27-28 of sn76489.c (the volume_values array) and divide each number by two. See if that helps at all. Granted, those numbers have been the way they are since 0.1.8, so I don't know that it'll help any. Before I do that, I tested out a FM synth game today (the hacke...

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
After many vicissitudes, I was able to find and install Xcode 3.1.4 (the latest version supported on Leopard/PPC), and successfully build CrabEmu 0.2.0 as it now stands. The good news is that it runs under both Tiger and Leopard, and seems to run 4 Pak All Action just fine! (How funny that you'd add...

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
It should still support PPC, as it still builds on my end that way. I know some other folks have had some weird issues trying to build for PPC and pre-Leopard systems -- it seems like Apple is trying to cut the legs out from under legacy hardware users. Anyway, very glad to hear that PPC support is...

Re: CrabEmu 0.1.9 Released
Just wanted to affirm that a new release of CrabEmu would be very welcome. That list of changes would allow me to put the other SMS emulators I use away, once and for all. Will the new release continue to support OS X PPC and 10.4? I hope so! I wasn't able to build the nightly when I tried to do so ...
