Try different CDs, no one respects memorex, go for verbatim or imation or something, maybe pny. Other than that, I dont induce, so I cant really help you there.

Heres what I know about DVD-RAM in general: when you buy them they should come in that cartridge thing, I think they hold 5.2 GB but it might be less, I think it works like a normal CD or DVD, try toast, but that might also be wrong. Hope that helps.

3. check their website
4. try the apple forums

If your too cheap to buy Toast then I dont know what the world is coming to. Toast is THE BEST burning software that we have. As far as I know there is nothing built in to OS X or OS 9 that can burn iso images. I have never seen any emus or tools or homebrew stuff released in iso and for that reason...

I.M.Weasel's disc swap guide has a few pics. But the tutorials are just strait forward, just follow them exactly, everything you need is at the top of the Mac section.

Yeah, hes got a good point, invest in a Jaguar machine if you want to do some computing, keep what you have if you just want to play around.

The reason for that is that none of us have old equipment like that. Or we chose not to use it. Try an official Apple forum, we specialize in DC stuff here.
