What are the games worth playing that didn't see a US release?

Seriously?
...SERIOUSLY?
You SERIOUSLY don't know this yet, and you've been here five years???
...Well, then.
Rez.
Headhunter.
Evil Twin.
Guilty Gear X.
Capcom vs. SNK 2.
Shenmue 2.
Cosmic Smash.
Ikaruga.
Border Down.
Under Defeat.
Capcom games for Matchmaking Service (Streetfighter 2, Vampire Chronicle, Puzzle Fighter 2, etc.)
SeGaGaGa (must be fluent in Japanese).
Puyo Puyo Fever.
...Most of those are available in the US on other platforms, but those are the really big ones.

I tried to list all the big ones you don't need to know a foreign language to play. There are other interesting titles, but you need to know Japanese to take advantage of them.Calavera wrote:yes seriously, Well obviously I knew about Rez, Headhunter, Shenmue 2, and a few other you posted. I thought there was more cool Jap games.

Ah, I see. Also Taxi 2 (french) looks like a decent game. I remembering seeing Tokyo Bus Guide a long time ago. That could be fun.DaMadFiddler wrote:I tried to list all the big ones you don't need to know a foreign language to play. I bought it during Play Asia's sale earlier this year, and I'm pretty happy with it. The visual design is surprisingly crisp, the game is difficult but not impossibly insane, there's quite a bit of variation, and I like the control mechanics. It's no Ikaruga (that game sets the standard for the genre, in my opinion), but it's a very good sh'mup nonetheless.Juan wrote:Under Defeat. MEH
Whoops--forgot about those. For more obvious, well known titles:
Space Channel 5 part 2
Samba de Amigo 2000
Haven't tried that one. I did play the 'Cube port of Chaos Field, though, and it was incredibly dull.Zealous zerotype wrote:I gotta admit. I'm a shump fan and Border down just isn't enhhh fun. Another shump I'd recomend is psyvaria 2 really a lot of fun.
I'd love to see another game like Raptor: Call of the Shadows. I spent a lot of time playing that back in the day...it was one of the few shareware apps that I enjoyed enough to buy the full version. (The others were the Duke Nukem games, and a Windows notation program called Noteworthy Composer).

Ugh, don't even remind me of Evil Twin. I was sooooooo disappointed in that game. Starting into that game, it had this incredibly twisted vibe to it that really had me interested. The graphics were a bit underwhelming, but the atmosphere was great. After the intro, I was totally ready for an amazing game. But a half hour of actually playing the game was enough to make me throw the disc out in anger. I think I stopped playing at a point where the horrible collision detection and crappy controls caused me to get stuck in a pile of junk and was forced to reset my Dreamcast. So much potential wasted on bad gameplay.

I have never heard of this game before.
I don't know how I'd never come across it before; the Dreamcast catalogue is small enough that I'd thought I had at least a basic understanding of every game that came out for the system.
But this is the first I've ever heard of this game.
And I MUST have it.
