dreamcasts advertising

Post by ian »

i wanna see more sega ads from tv and magazines and newspapers

so what ads have you seen and where? i mainy interested in official sega ones but want others too

i only seen one tv ad some chick saying "sega sega sega"

a magazine ad with "beat the world, then surf it"

a few ads for like electronic stores claiming they have the lowest prices

and the highlight a half page bleem (for gt2) ad in an old issue of "hyper"-aussie magazine

yeah i'll look at them tonight and scan them sometine in the next week

also if trailers have been on tv i'd like to know about those too 8-)

i'm not all to sure about the legality of television commercials. i'm fairly certain they are legal, but i dunno. if anyone can host them somewhere, (not one of those crappy thinger mambober websites) then i'll send them all to whoever.

i have a total of 1.1 gigs of sega related videos, but i think some of them are in game videos and non commercial stuff.

edit: just sorted through it all, i have a total of 65 commercials and other promotional videos for sega (around 10 of um are definetly not commercials but possibly were shown at conventions or something). it totals to 330mb

Maybe not the quality you're looking for, but there is certainly quantity. There's even a Half-Life video in there (actually 2) and a Propellor Arena video too. Some of them might be preview movies for magazines like DreamOn, etc.

Sorry, above link is for the Dreamcast videos - to get a list of all systems, go to the main page, select your platform, then enjoy.

BTW, it seems if you download the files, the quality is better.

Distributing commercials shouldn't be much of a problem I'd say as it's free advertising for the company. Even though they won't make money of it anymore.

http://www.planetxbox.com/shenmuedojo has some DC Shenmue commercial links to fileplanet. It's where I got some nice videos :)

I've only seen one DC ad in the UK, I think there was a beach in it or something and the ad was promoting the machines internet capabilities.

Also SEGA sponsored Arsenal FC, With SEGA on the Home Kit and Dreamcast on the away kit. I find this ironic as there was not a single decent football game available for the system, If the DC would have had something like ISS/PRO EVO/WE/Sensible Soccer to tie in with the sponsorship, It would have been a lot more effective.

Aside from the "9/9/99" print ad, I am very embarassed to admit that I don't remember any of old dc ads

I had a dc when they first debuted but stupidly traded it in for a ps2; a decision I regret.....

Wow, I was actually thinking about hosting all the DC-related commercials sometime during the summer when I get around to remaking our website.

I have a Shenmue 2 movie, Samba De Amigo ver. 2000 (funny), and I think several others.

I'll host everybodys' and I was planning on having a whole section of TCR dedicated to them (assuming I have enough space on the webserver). The only problem would be whether that's legal or not... Would hosting commercials like that be illegal in any way?

Yes, but only by the letter of the law, like spitting on someone's lawn, or kung fu fighting with a friend at the beach for a homemade movie. =_=
