Atari M.U.L.E. on Dreamcast
Hi everyone, this is my first post. I have tried 20 times to make a self booting CD of the Atari800DC emulator for the sole purpose of being able to play M.U.L.E. on my DC, but every time I burn a coaster. I have been trying with DIR2BOOT and I have tried burning with Nero and DiscJuggler but nothing ever loads on the DC. I am using regular CD-R and I tried burning even at 1X. Can anyone help out?

Which guide are you referring to. I got the files from http://members.chello.nl/~m.schuitemaker/atari/ and I followed the burning guide there step by step with the files provided by the site plus my M.U.L.E. disk image.

There are the plain files and the easier plain files,
i think if you downloaded the Easier plain files Its gonna be easier,
here : http://www.dcemulation.org/dcemu-atari800.htm
Have you also downloaded the Bios for the emulator?
this is the guide for Dir2boot i used: http://imrtechnology.ngemu.com/tutdir2boot.htm

I forgot to answer that question. It just goes straight to the screen with Play, File, Music, etc. Sometimes it "checks" the CD but it never plays it. Even a cold reboot a few times and still nothing. I pop in my Utopia CD and that works fine.. and I was praying that I could boot the emulator from Utopia but that doesn't work either.Matisfaction wrote:Are you Sure Your DC can Read CD-R's?

you definetly got Ip.bin on the disk ?
maybe its your burner or dc have you got other things working ?
well this is how i'd do it
download selboot inducer from http://consolevision.com/members/sbiffy/ in the files selection
then get atari emulator SBI here its tested and works
install inducer to the default directory
put the Atari800DC_0.75.sbi into c:\Sbinducer\Sbi\
run sbinducer.exe
select menu type (bottom left) Sbi2boot
click the extract sbi icon (left most icon)
exit inducer
now go to c:\Sbinducer\inducer\
copy your mule.atr .com or .exe there and rename it autorun.atr , autorun.com or autorun.exe
also make sure that the Atari800.cfg file is there, i can't remember when i made that sbi it had a fault in that the Atari800.cfg file would go to the wrong folder, i can't remember if the version up is fixed or not, but i think it is, but anyway just copy the Atari800.cfg file to the c:\Sbinducer\inducer\ directory if it aint there.
put your atari rom files in the bios directory
atariosa.rom, atariosb.rom, atarixl.rom, ataribas.rom, 5200.rom
maybe you don't need 5200.rom if its for atari computer.
now run sbinducer again and click on the icon for the way you want it created ie discjuggler, nero DAO or nero TAO
when its done exit inducer and double click the image that has been created in the c:\sbinducer directory and burn it.

Bugaboo,
Thanks for your help. That worked !!! Ultimately my Dreamcast hasn't been used in a long time, and it has got a problem reading CD's now where if I press on the top cover a bit, it seems to read more often than not. If I don't put something on top of it, sometimes it doesn't recognize CD's. Anyway after 30 coasters, I've got MULE on my Dreamcast and I am a very happy camper. I don't suppose you know whether or not it will work with 4 joysticks? I have some people nearby who want to play, but they would have to buy additional joysticks (I only have 2) and I don't even know if it will work.
Thanks again!!
Adam

I'm way ahead of you qw3rty! Join my group at http://gamesource.groups.yahoo.com/group/atarimule/ where there is already a bunch of people gathering to play online! The reason I wanted to get it working on the Dreamcast though is because I have some friends with MACs that want to get together and play because they can't play online. =)
