Misdiagnosed spider bite kills boy, 5
"The state medical examiner has ruled that a 5-year-old boy's death was the result of a bite by a poisonous brown recluse spider. Nicholas Robinson was bitten while playing outside his home about 70 miles south of Nashville on July 29. The child was taken to a doctor, who determined he was suffering from a virus rather than a bite. However, the child that night was rushed to a hospital, where his symptoms included hypersalivation, sweating and neurological problems before he died, according to the medical examiner's report, completed Thursday."

So young , is it common to have those kind of spiders there?
Yeah, it is. I've been stationed in Georgia and South Carolina for a good period of time, and this was always an issue. One of my buddies was knocked out for a month because he was attacked by a nest of them in his sleep. He got sent home to recuperate. Another buddy of mine was bitten three times in the back of his neck, and to this day has a pit the size of a cherry where he was bitten. I've seen worse off guys lose limbs. It's hard to diagnose some bites, probably what happened to this kid.
Need a Treamcast, Dreamcast modchip, HUGE DC memory card, ASCII-like DC fighter pad, or Saturn Gameshark with tons of backup memory? PM me.

We don't seem to have any brown recluse where we live, but we do have the black widow's. Luckily Black Widows seem to stay undernearth buildings and such unlike the brown recluse. The Brown Recluse pretty much likes to get into people's homes and get in there cloths, etc.

I imagine that they don't build the nest on the outside of your pillowcase. More likely, they get inside the pillow and build a nest in the fluffy filling. Then, when you put your head on their house they get pissed off, come out, and bite you.Warmachine wrote:How cant you see that then.fatheadpi wrote:And pillows. My friend stayed the night at my house one night, and woke up with 12 brown recluse spider bites (most likely the same spider in his sleeping bag trying to get out). The doctor told him that the poison was heading to his heart, he luckily recovered though. If he hadn't, I would have been left with the guilt trip of killing my best friend with brown recluse spiders.
