High res VGA and utopia boot disc and browser 3.0
ok uys, I really want to surf the web at times when the comp is not accessible, however surfing with DC on a tv is totally nasty crap! the res is like 640x480, pictures are hard to see and puts lots of strain on the eyes. So if I get a VGA cable, and use it with an extra monitor I have, can I use browser 3.o in 800x600 res? And if it won't work wth VGA support, can I use the Utopia boot disc, the one with the hack so you can boot any game into VGA mode????

ur right, Planet web is a rip off. they make a browser not worth crap! I know flaiming isn't cool but they deserve it, they are terrible, they have no skills, and I hope they go out of business. It can't eb that hard! They have the worst interface on earth! Just now they've put in java support! It's rediculous, these people call themsellves a company of professionals, but they can't do squat. I know DC shouldn't be the main thing for surfing, but why can't it be close to PC surfing? Why can't they make a good interface, good support (the java thing bieng implementedt JUST NOw is rediculous), smaller font, etc.

I tried out my Planetweb browser that came with my DC and it won't freakin' work! It just won't work. It would dial up then would try to connect and then, for some odd reason, it won't and would go on this endless cycle. How come?! I could connect with Quake 3 and Daytona (Damn! can't download that damn keyfile!) but not with Planetweb! Why must I be force to endure such extravagant and vague calamities from thy whore of hell!

i know, i was just saying that if hes going to use his dc, hes wasting his time expecting this... i mean the browser is designed to work on a tv, so vga support is just an add in... and the dc is limited to a 640x480 display meaning it doesnt matter what kind of software planetweb wrote, he isnt going to get anything better on his dc (which is why i said if he wants it in a higher resolution, then use the pc)...i mean the could have used some kind of scaling to fit a 800X600 image into 640x480 frame, but that would look horrible on a moniter, and image how unreadable it would become on an interlaced tv image which is what the thing is designed for... i mean basically, you arent going to get anything better than what they have offered, so give it up... and to finalize my statement (youve probably all heard this one by now), doughboy, if you dont like it, make something better

ok.......
I get what ur saying stu, what I meant by VGA support was getting higher res. I'm just trying to say, I know it was designed for tv, but why the heck couldn't they have made it so that higher res was supported? And that thing about "go make somehting better" ticks me off. I would understand if it was freeware, but its a friggin $15 american web browser! no point sticking up for crap. Planetweb=suckasses, lets see how nice the browsers for XBOX and PS2 will be.

well, the dreamcast simply doesnt output and 800x600, so it doesnt matter whether they are charging for the browser or not and besides, there was a rather lengthy list of features that were new to this version, and 800x600 support was not on the list... if you bought it expecting that than im sorry, but thats your own fault, not theirs... youre asking for a feature that cant be implemented and youre blaming people who have nothing to do with that restriction... and not only that , but come on, how many people do you actually think want to use their dc to go online with a vga moniter...you and about five others world wide... and you expect any company to invest the time and resources in to writing the code for a feature and testing it out (if it were possible which it isnt) so 0.1% of their target audience will be able to find something else to complain about (face it, if it were in 800X600 youd be asking why not 1024x768 or some other resolution)...

alright stu, you make a good point, I had just wished higher res support like a lot of good DC games, would have made the DC a good alternative in my room to surf with..... But I guess your right, but it would have made it so much better
