DreamSNES Rules!!

Post by ZacMc »

I posted this because there are so many people posting negative things about Dsnes. Now I can see why the old message board was closed :o .
Here are some things you might want to think about before you post something negative about Dsnes...
1. Dsnes has been updated more recently than the other 2 Snes emus (are they still being worked on?).
2. Fullscreen, not every emu has this, Dsnes does.
3. Speed, IT IS FAST WITH THE SOUND OFF. If you leave the sound on then it will be slow. The other Snes emus don't even have sound if I remember correctly.
4. The menu. Hidden menu game!! Roms.lst function is great...If it works  . If you don't like the hearts/music I'm sure you can find a way to remove them from the cd.
5. Dreamcast is ~200mhz your comp is probably 2-6x as fast as your DC thats why it can't emulate Snes the same way (duh).

Just my 2cents.

I'm sure my Dreamcast can process stuff a lot better than my 450mhz p3, couldn't see my pc do Soul Calibur.

But your right these people don't need negative remarks, but i really need a snes emulator 100% please and soon. HELP ME PLEASE

Thank you! It's good to see someone post something positive about this kick-ass emulator. No one seems to realize how well it really was ported, and how much work it takes to right an emulator in assembly. It has all the compatability and functionality of it's PC counter part, it just lacks in the speed department. I can't wait to see future versions of this emulator, and even if they don't continue writing it, at least they put out an excellent product. Now if only we could adjust the frameskip...

I'm just happy to have an snes emulator on my dc, fast or not. I wasted 5 or 6 cd's on this before (didn't work), and it finally works with the new release, so i am happy. :)

It warms my heart to see such well deserved praise I hope the DreamSNES team take some time to look at the boards. Its a complete change around from the last time they had a release I just hope the Guys will see this and release more betas and be a little more sociable on the boards.

Don't get me wrong, DreamSNES is great, I was just a little disappointed that saving didn't work when it worked in previous versions. If they could fix that, I'd be beyond satisfied.

Why's the romlist got to go? as far as I know, DCFactory will create one automatically for you, though I haven't tried it myself.
I personally think when I do get enough roms on the disc to actually warrant a roms.lst it will be a very useful addition to DSNES.

nononoonon miles, i think the rom.lst is a good idea, but it is still far from SIMPLE!
I'm talking about the whole method the emulator uses to list the roms! Why it can't it just be like smeg or nester? Thats an example of SIMPLE roms listing!!

Yeah i'm thinking that DCFacotry doesn't automatically make a roms.lst which would be nice because i used his stand alone list maker and my roms load like 10x faster now.

Don't even need file name listing now.
