64 Bit AMD
Are 64 bit processors worth it or should I wait?
And I don't want to live my life, like everybody else
And I won't say that I feel fine, like everybody else
cause, I'm not like everbody else

I am running a 3200+ 64 bit 1 gig corsair xms ram. Its kinda hard to say if it was worth the 380 or so for the processor. It does a good job encoding video, and i have no problems running games at max settings with the help of geforce fx5900. I wouldnt take back buying it though. Seeing as how the programs i run are 32 bit it does a good job at running them. I would like to have a 64 bit program to test out.
I know what your problem is.
Ya'll think us folk from the country's real funny-like, dontcha?

A review i read on a 2.4Ghz Athlon XP & 2.4Ghz AMD 64 754pin showed the AMD 64 converts vid files at around 95% faster also almost twice as many FPS on various games. Both PC's had 1gig 400mhz ram & same gfx cards ATI Radeon 9600 i think.

PCI-X is essential for me:
More graphics power for HDTV editing and processing !
SLi Mode where 2 graphics cards can work together to double the power !
32-bit soundcards will FINALLY arrive, and sound latency will FINALLY reach below 1ms !
DDR2 is good,but motherboards should support DDR1 and DDR2.
and I like to get a motherboard with a heat dissipation layer that ASUS makes for it's high-end server boards.
When all of this technology arrives in a good ASUS motherboard,I'll buy it with a powerful AMD64.
Until then,I'll save some cash and get a cheap AMD XP2500+ and overclock it to the extreme on an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard

PCI-X is already out. You two are both thinking of PCI-E, which is PCI-Express. PCI-X is just any PCI that is different from 32-bit 33Mhz. There are for instance 64-bit 33Mhz, 64-bit 66Mhz, 64-bit 133Mhz and I think one or two others.
There is already a 64-bit edition of Windows out, it just isnt mainstream.

I've tried them both... They don't seem to run too well on my 64 3000+, with a 9800 pro and 512 DDR@3200. I think there is some kind of bottleneck I missed though, maybe they read a lot off the HDD or something? Bleh, pretty frustrating.FLCL|ETR wrote:FarCry and UT2k4 are amazing on a 64 bit.... My buddy got one for graduation.
