Inhabitants Demo Version

Post by Barret7sc »

Greetings all.

Since we're getting closer to the release date of Inhabitants, I thought it might be fun to release a demo version of the game. It contains 3 levels of Normal and Challenge mode in both scoring variations, and two player multiplayer over one board. I feel it gives you a good tatse of the changes made to it since the beta release.

Anyway, you can download the files here:

DiscJuggler Image
Nero 5 Image
Plain Files ISO

The Plain files ISO can be run from Chankast, albeit far too fast in the menus. Be warned that the 1ST_READ.BIN in the ISO is UNSCRAMBLED. So if you want to burn it, you will have to scramble it first.

Remember that you can preorder Inhabitants at The GOAT Store. And be sure to check out Maqiupai while you are at it.

Anyways

-B

:o Great! I will burn Inhabitants onto a disc with the beta preview that's out for a while using DreamInducer.

Screens

Post by Barret7sc »

You can check out some screenshots of the full build at http://www.sevensoupcans.com/inhab_screens/

There are not any new tiles in the demo, but there are many more tilesets in the full vesrion. More music, new gameplay modes, 4 player multiplayer, the ability to swap out the Inhabitants CD for an audio CD, or a CD with OGG Vorbis files on it. Lots more ;)

And yes, Impetus, your name is still in the credits :P

well i played this verison now and i must say its a mucho improvement upon the beta....im glad you made the tiles you are about to elimnate glow that was helpful. i wish you would of added some power up tiles like when you click on them they do something special ,but thats okay its still good. another thing maybe its one of the unlockable modes but i think there should of been a clear the whole board mode where you had to use a lot of stratgey to clear all the tiles off the board ,and maybe even a time trial mode. i know one thing though playin this has inspired a concept for a puzzle game of my own. all ill say is the game will be called Demolition ,and will have a similar premise of game play as this does except a big difference. hopefully ill be able to get that concept put into developement some time

Downloaded it earlier today, and I'll probably burn it tomorrow, if I find the time. Thanks for the demo, I don't think anyone was expecting it.

If you liked the demo, the final version kicks it's butt!

Just got done talking with the pressers yesterday. All problems are believed to be taken care of and we should have the final game within two weeks :D Until then, enjoy the demo!

Inhabitants_bO.sbi is up in the Games section of Sbiffy and is confirmed working. Add it to a compilation or burn it as standalone using Sbi2boot.

Have fun as always kiddos.

Yeah - the demo version is rather nice. There are many more modes, tile-sets, and everything in the full version.

I really wouldn't compare this game to Sega Swirl, Samegame, or Insane. Not to sound arrogant or anything, but it's its own idea and if you try to play it like Swirl or those others, you are almost guaranteed to lose.

Well, enjoy it, folks - and let us at S+F know what y'all think.

Heh, I've explained the game as "Sega Swirl meets Bust A Move" which might be really confusing.

Honestly, it is much more addicting to me than Sega Swirl. I played Swirl about three times and then thought that it was kind of dumb. I have actually played Inhabitants for fun when I wasn't just testing stuff, and I find it to be really, really fun.

It also has a bit of a Klax-ish quality to it. And even some Tetris insiparations.

Very intersting, no matter what. I'd suggest playing it and then posting what you think it is the most like :)
