So its not a probably with his specs, sounds like either a problem with your video driver and or DirectX installation. Might try to remove and reinstall them with the latest versions. Or something messed up with Windows when you reinstalled, and without your machine here its hard to troubleshoot much more. Google is your friendrmbell wrote:ok i had this running a few days ago.......my windows got reinstalled and now it wont run... i keep getting a bunch of DLL errors. anyone know whats up? i just got all the windows updates and .net frame work. anyone know what i should get next to make this run again?

The bad thing is,if you have only 256 MB of RAM as I have now,no matter what CPU power you have, you're likely to have a 30% decrease in FPS and skipping at times. This emu EATS YOUR RAM like Godzilla! Just to boot up without a game eats over 160 MB.Add another 160-200 MB when you boot a game, and that's over 350 MB! That's 100 MB of virtual RAM,which will torture your HDD,and decrease overall performance.
Not to mention the other bad thing - the CD reading plugin - it's horrible right now.
When I start REZ loading from a CDROM drive,i get only 5 fps!,compared to the amazing 50fps I get when using the Alcohol 120% virtual drive.
And,the saddest thing of all is that almost no homebrew CDs work
Utopia doesn't work.It boots up,but doesn't boot non-selfboot CDs.
Also,no web browsers work (DreamPassport 3,PlanetWeb 2.6,Psilocybin Dreams...)
The team at Chanka should work on 3 things:
1. Better CD reading plugin.
2. Full homebrew support
3. Make it less RAM-intensive
and include a sound ripper to rip the music from ADX format to WAV and the MIDI-sample based music to a DSF format (like PSF or USF),and to extract the wavetable instrument samples to WAV format,so we can use them to create homebrew music

I fail to see how playing them from a virtual drive or image file would be any better from a legal or moral standpoint.speud wrote:what would be better is no cd reading plugin anymore imo. but i think the next release will force you to use burned discs as wellBetter CD reading plugin

There are a couple of CD drives that can read GD-ROMs with updated firmware. Perhaps this emulator will spark interest in extending development into it for other drives.

actually im against virtual drive too. the best would be a way to read gd rom directly, and elf/bin for homebrews. this way it wouldnt have this negative image of a warez emu anymore.az_bont wrote:I fail to see how playing them from a virtual drive or image file would be any better from a legal or moral standpoint.speud wrote:what would be better is no cd reading plugin anymore imo. but i think the next release will force you to use burned discs as wellBetter CD reading plugin
