This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.
here it is: http://bswirl.kitsunet.org/dcdumper.rar
follow the instructions that appear on screen to dump the boot ROM under /pc/dc_bios.bin or the flash ROM under /pc/dc_flash.bin
if someone got chanka to work without using my tool to dump his files that would help he tries using dumps made with my tool and report the result.

Yeah, stuff is working for me too. In fact, Super Famicast works but I think romdisks don't work with chanka because the menus are empty, which means it probably couldn't load the font out of the rom disk. It works though.
i simply used the paths /pc/dc_bios.bin and /pc/dc_flash.bin with kos, so if there is a problem that might be something with kos, or eventually with dc-tool.
anyway, it works good for me, the files are saved in my C:/ dir. im using windows XP if you think its connected, but i doubt so.
is it the flash file that stores the region of the dc or the bios file? Because i remove the flash file i currently have the dreamcast logo changes to red, but then it doesnt boot anything (keeps taking me back to the clock setup screen).
the swirl color depends on your DC's region stored in your flash ROM if im not wrong.
and you need this flash dump or it will display the date/time window forever like you mentionned.
well, i cant get it to work. after hitting init it just crashes. cant even get any sign of it booting. tried a homebrew, tried a cd-r (;)) and i tried just with the drive empty. nothing. anyone who can help out here id appreciate it.
Guess it's time to reboot to Linux and dump my BIOS. Also, can everyone try to explain there CPU/RAM in conjunction with the emu's performance? I'm sure the authors would like to know this if they are looking.
I can't get any homebrew or emulators to work; I've tried Alice and NesterDC, neither will run. It crashes and simply says "error", closing out the emulator after the DC swirl finishes. Commercial games will run on mine without a problem, however.
k, been bs'ing a bit the past couple of hours. Now that I've dumped the binaries, where the heck are they? I dumped them in Linux, and I can't seem to find them anywhere.
they're supposed to be where they are when you use kos to write a file in the /pc/ dir.
dont blame me if it doesnt work on some OS or the path is different.
