This forum is for discussion pertaining to homebrew and indie software for the Dreamcast, such as homebrew games, emulators/interpreters, and other homebrew software/applications. Porting requests and developmental ideas are not to be made here; you can make those here. If you need any help burning discs for homebrew software, this is the place to ask as well.

this is great news. i can't wait to try it. is anyone going to make an SBI of this ?
btw do you have to type load "" ect each time to load a snapshot or is there a quicker way, and also does it support disc swapping ?

do you think you will be able to get the 128k bit full speed without frame skipping ? is it like this on gp32 or does it run full speed without having to frameskip, if not will an option to disable the 128 specific sounds be able to be implimented ?
oh one more thing, it says it saves key configs for each game to vmu, can you define the keys to work on the joypad, like some games use q,a,o,p and m, and bugaboo uses 1 and 0 as left and right etc can these be defined to work with the joypad ? and how much does this take up on the vmu as i'm gonna have a lot of games on there
sorry about all the questions. this sound excellent so far though. :D

can't wait for the next version, keep it up, i really appreciate this, as my 128 is a bit ****** up as only the disk is working and i cant games onto it cos the tape input is broken.

btw get 3D deathchase on this as its ace.

now if only someone would sort out the BBC emulator for the dreamcast, even the playstation 2 has that one, that would be just too good.

sorry about all the rambling and questions.

Is it legal to include the downloads for the "roms" for this? I noticed that there is a download for "roms" on tyrell's site (they appear to be the bios for this emu). I just want to find out whether this is legal, before I release an SBI.

Well - I'm assuming that, since no one else has said anything about it, then it must be legal. I have released an SBI of this, and it can be downloaded from the DCStuff SBI Page. The SBI includes the roms that were on tyrell's site.
If it turns out that it is not legal to include those, please let me know, and I will update the SBI.

The roms can be distributed legally. Amstrad gives us the permission to distribute the roms under slightly restrictive conditions.

See http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&l ... uk.psi.net

And http://groups.google.com/groups?as_umsg ... nworld.com

Hope this is usefull.

Hmmm ... let's try answering some questions.

First, about the VMU memory : each save (be it options or keys) will take 2 blocks on the memory card.

The 128k fullspeed emulation + AY sound can be achieved by selecting the fullscreen option (this does not emulate the border which - I have to reckon - has to be enhanced).

Yes, you can redefine each joystick button. There's even an extra button (fire2). Each direction and each fire button can be assigne *any* speccy keyboard key. Even caps shift or symbol shift if you want. Custom keys are saved on the VMU only if you selected the "used defined" option.

Options and/or custom keys are saved when you press "start" on the options screen.

Hope this helps.

Have fun !

I have a Dreamcast keyboard so I suppose I'll be able to test it and see whether or not I can easily add support for it.
