Shenmue BOR?

This is shaping up to be a very impressive mod. The sprites look amazing, and the background in the last two pictures looks very pretty. I hope this gets finished

Man! This is gonna be one sweeeeeet mod!

If the rest of the game is gonna have as much detail put into them as Ryo, it will definetly be one of the best!

Idea. I don't have Shenmue on CDR thus can't test this (I know it's warez speak

) but couldn't you use Chanka to record a video of Ryo and then just cut him out? I thought it *could* be a possibility when I saw BrAzE's av.

I was thinking about that.

I am going to PM LanDC from ShenmueDojo who is really into modding Shenmue and ask how to replace Ryo's character with Lan Di etc. The trouble with it just being a ripped Ryo is that when placed next to the Lan Di/the background in the other pics he looks way too good

You still have to remember that we have to deal with a less primitive palette even when we rip characters. This time, this would probably be the only exception I would make to use the dither feature in photoshop or paint shop pro to get the desired look in BoR. As far as ripping Lan Di, that'll be a pretty rough pickle unless he can strike up some sort of debug mode which I bet you someone can do. That's just my thoughts.

Well, I'm going to put this mod on hold so that Braze can get his college stuff done but once that's over with, I think we'll have a mod in a few months time.

Yeah, I have exams

so I can't work on a huge mod right now. However, in my free time I will still be working on Shenmue: The lost Chapter. Which is a simple case of ripping sprites from Shenmue and placing them all on the boat. Real sprites can only be used on my mod since there are so few characters and they are all in the original game(s).

The mod that Kungpow12345 and I have planned will need characters which are known to appear in the future (Niao Sun etc...) and it will just look strange for Ryo to be the real deal and then the rest edits.

Well this topic is probably the only/main reason I joined these forums. I love Shenmue and would love to see a BoR game of it. Anyways, if you guys are looking for a storyline, someone started a really great fanfiction that begins where Shenmue 2 left off... here's the link... it's a really good fanfic, but not yet finished... so if you do plan on using this storyline, or something along this storyline, you would need to finish the story and make an ending for it. But it is really good... here's the link:

EDIT: (SPOILERS) one more thing, not sure if everyone knows this, but it's believed Niou Sun represents the Phoenix, Lan Di the Dragon, Ziming the White Tiger, and some unknown person as the Snake Tortous... also, there's supposedly another person above all four who is the leader of the entire Chiyoumen organization... forgot the name, but if you'd like to know I can look it up again and post it, so u can incorporate this into ur storyline too.

Yeah, Shenmue is a great title right now and like most of the mods I attempt, it's always something to do with custom sprites which makes it looooooooonger to release them. Good news tho, Braze has finished his exams and we're going to go back to work on Shenmue! ...among other things

We should have something out soon. ...but not soon as in weeks. I mean like maybe a month or two.

I thought I would post a little AM2-esque picture of the Chiyoumen.

For those of you who are familiar with the Shenmue series, you will know who these characters are.

Lan Di is now complete. The other two are around 80 or 90% finished. The reason the 4th member is missing is because I don't have a clue where to start. I am guessing he is older than the rest but thats about all I can guess. Does anyone have any info on him?

No info on the guy what-so-ever... there may also be a MAIN leader... above the four leaders that include those three above and the mysterious fourth guy... so we have two unknowns

I will probably give him long grey hair and a blue 'outfit' like Landi, with the Snake Tortoise stick pattern.
