Super Famicast theme concepts
Hey all! I wanted to make a seperate topic for this issue to keep me sane. Also, in the effort to save DC memory, I am lowering the max resolution for backgrounds, splashes, etc... basically anything that's fullscreen. Largest I want now is can be 512x256 but preferrably 320x240. If you do decide to make something other than 320x240, you should know that I will stretch it at runtime to a 4:3 aspect ratio no matter what. I understand that lots of wonderful work has already been done in 640x480 and I will still accept those. I'll just resize them myself. So if all the people that posted designs in previous topics could repost here, it would be very appreciated.

OK, do far here's what I believe I need. Any background images mentioned should be 320x240.
Main menu screen:
* Background image with enough not-so-busy space for the actual menu No menu options text or icons as part of the image.
* Font in txf format (optional) If you need a utility for converting truetype fonts to txf, I can provide one. It's a windows console app.
* Icons (optional)
Options screen:
* Background image that leaves nearly all of the screen space usable for listing options. Optional title at top saying "Options"
ROM Selection:
* Background image that leaves nearly all space for listing ROMs. Optional title at top saying something like Load Game or ROM or whatever
VMU selection screen:
* Background image
* Semi-large VMU icons
That's it for now. I just want to stress that I don't want text as part of the image. Also, I already have a font chosen for the first release. I even paid for it at an online font store so don't try to change my mind. I'll try to get the XML format worked out relatively soon. Thanks for the support and hard work.

Feel free to leave the space for the menu wherever you like. The theme XML file that I will develop will allow you to define the menu boundries. So you guys won't be constrained to all have you menus in the same place. Also, please avoid doing odd shaped menus... like yours, sheng. Your icons are going in a circle and I don't feel like programming that right now. Assume that the menu is an up/down list of text with optional icons to either the left of right of each menu item. You're simply free to put the menu wherever you want.quzar wrote:hows about making up a blank template, with like, lines representing where you will be needing space and where the artist can put things?

Yes the Pal SNES are the same in look as the Jap SNES everything look the same!scherzo wrote:Hey, sheng, does the Japanese SFC cart look just like PAL carts? I just want to know so that I could use these cart icons in the rom selection screen. I plan to check the filename for (J), (U), or (E) and give it the appropriate icon.
