Power Stone Problems

Post by Orange_Ribbon »

Okay I am on my 5th or 6th copy of Power Stone. None of them will boot. Only one has had scratches on it (the copy I am trying now) and those are so minor they should not matter. Is there something on DCEMU or Homebrew I can try? I tried Utopia Boot Disk and it isn't working. (oh and my other 25 to 30 some odd games work perfectly Including power stone 2.

Capcom doesn't like you. You are out of luck. No. Honestly. You should email Capcom and let them see what they can do. If you have your game, you can see if they have a replacement disc (which would more than likely be a new one).

I suppose you can try the boiling water trick....

drop it in a boiling pot for about 30 sec to melt off excess coating on GD-R.

don't blame me if you cook it though. :P

Wasn't Powerstone one of those first generation games that had the read errors like Sonic Adventure? I'm pretty sure it was. But that still wouldn't explain why 6 copies are not booting. There was only a handful out there with the bad code, so you'd have a better chance of being hit by lightning than to end up with 6 bad copies in a row.

You can try the toilet bowl trick. I know it must sound rediculous, but the trick is to drop it in a toilet bowl that is dirty (#1 not #2) and flush the toilet. The salts from the urine and the circular motion from flushing are supposed to create just the right amount of friction to the disc to remove any grease, light scratches, etc. However, I would definitely add to that step a good disc and hand wash.

Yeah the boiling water trick is an actual thing.
Some GD Roms are made too thick on the coating, remove some and it reads the disc better.

I just called the friend that gave me Power Stone, and he told me it worked for him when he had it, and he didn't charge me so no reason to lie. I will try the Boiling Trick. ( the urine one sounds too too icky.) Also why would this get locked? It is the real GD Rom I just had some bad choice of words.

I am being honest. Supposedly, the ever so slight sediment found within the excrement in combination with the swirling motion of the flush is supposed to cause a gentle resurfacing action to the disc. I have never tried it, and I don't plan on trying it simply because I either buy stuff that is new or is used and looks new. If it doesn't work, I take it back. For the longest time, I had a problem trying play NFL 2K1 on my Dreamcast. I would keep bringing home disc, after disc, after disc. However, the culprit wasn't my Dreamcast, or the games, but rather what I had connected to my Dreamcast. I was playing a lot of Capcom vs. SNK on my Dreamcast as well as SNK vs. Capcom on my NGPC. I would hook up my NGPC to my Dreamcast that always had the link cable connected to the back of it. For some reason or another, it would always interfere with the loading of NFL 2K1. It drove me nuts, but it was eventually able to work just by simply taking out the link cable for the two systems. Although a bit off topic, it was something that noone ever told me. The toilet trick I remember reading somewhere or hearing from a friend some time back. I am just throwing it out there as a possibility, but you should probably try calling Capcom's customer service. They are pretty good.
