Favorite mac.
Excluding any mac currently (or in the future) available from Apple, what is your favorite mac
Mine is the Blue and White G3s. Beautiful machines. Wonderful case design. And the 100MHz frontside makes it the oldest mac that is reasonable to spend a bunch of money on upgrading.
I don't have one yet, mainly because all of the thrifty folks like me who want the oldest (with a decent bus speed) machine available are keeping the prices up on ebay. Jerks.

....I dunno, the orriginal compact macs were pretty cool....but as for my favourite....hmmm....prolly the newest iMac (the one with the flat monitor) or the newer iBook (the plain white one).....although...I really do like the layout of everything on the inside of my IIcx..........................................

20th Anniversary Mac. Coolest machine ever. Wish I had $10,000 at the time!

The PowerMac G5 looks pretty nice though. Wish I wasn't po'. (Well, not quite poor, just not G5 rich!)

We have a 20th ani mac in the corner of a design lab at uni hehe its great, room full of MDD's and a 20th ani in the corner (not plugged in) also got all the old classic ones ina corridor, mmm mac labs

Okay, I'l probably get shot, but I love my machine. PM 8600/300 that had a bad mobo, so gutted and stuffed the mobo from a Umax S900 in there. G3/300 MHz w/ 784 RAM 4 WD 60GB HD's running in a RAID with an Apple stock 5x DVD and an LG - Best Buy special - CD-RW hacked so discburner/itunes work with it. Running OSX exclusivly since 10.1.2.
You can get one of the machines for around $50 and even a B&W G3 will just keep up with the right tinkering. Not to mention, try fitting 5 HDs and two CD-ROMs into a B&W or a G4
Maybe if I can find one cheap enought, I'll plop down the cash for one of those G4/800 upgrades. As is it benches around 25% faster than a stock G3.
Okay, I'm ending the bragging....

Re: Favorite mac.
Dont buy the b&w as a hole unit on ebay it will sell for around 400 if you do buy a case and motherboard for around 99 then get a powersupply for 29.99 and use a standard pc harddrive and ram and you offjaredfogle wrote:Excluding any mac currently (or in the future) available from Apple, what is your favorite mac

Mac Plus.
It came out in 1986 and was the first Mac to have 1 MB of RAM (expandable to 4), SCSI (mainly for hard disks), and a double-sided 800k floppy. In other words, it was the first powerful Mac. It could run anything from System 3.2 to Mac OS 7.5.5. It was discontinued in 1990 - the longest lifespan of any Mac. It was convection cooled (no fan). The vanilla-colored original model had the classic 128k Mac appearance.
