SMC Vs FIG

Post by kileran »

Quick short answer, i dont want to waste anyone's time.

Is there a difference between .fig files and .smc files? and will Dreamsnes run both?

I'm just building my rom lists right now, and i wanna make sure i'm not wasting space by putting them both on.

Oh, and what about .1 files? are they games too?

DreamSNES will run both. I don't know what the difference is (if there is any difference, besides the extension), but I do know that DreamSNES runs them both with no trouble.

It was dumped by a different type of cart dumper. It doesn't matter too much, since DreamSnes will read both perfectly.

Yup, they are roms too. These games are cut to multiple files though. These run OK on Zsnes for instance but if i remember correct you had to merge them to one file to be run on Dreamsnes.

DreamSNES doesn't care about the extension, so renaming won't do anything. You can call all your ROMs *.psx, that will work just as well.

swc....

.SWC files are japanese SNES roms, such as seiken denstesu 3. i first burnt it and sailor moon RPG, but it didnt read them. sailor moon was a .fig file, ang seiken densetsu 3 was a .swc file. after i changed the extentions to smc, they both worked.

Thats totally around. SWC is super wild card. Which is a dumper. SWC is dead because they should all have been converted to SMC which is the most comon format.
