burner: Thanks for the complement man! You always were one of the coolest people in the scene, IMHO. You've started doing DC coding since last year, haven't you?
At last, now that I'm finishing school so maybe folks can expect to see more good stuff from me (at least more regularly) :D
Zoid: Yeah, I have weird dreams, especially when I read before I go to bed.

I'd be happy to put together some textures for CatanDC. e-mail or PM me with any requests. Or borrow from my art here: http://geocities.com/mr_impetus/impetusartgallery.htm (let me know if you do)

Yeah, I have both the North American versions of "Cities and Knights" and "Seafarers". I would like to expand the game to include these addons and stuff, but I'm going to see how well recieved the 4P normal Settlers/Siedlers game is before I look at doing the other games. Once the interface is written, it should be easy to modify or add things to it... I'm still figuring out exactly how I want to design things for the onscreen and stuff.
As much as I *love* how the boardgame textures look, I don't want to get on the bad side of Mayfair Games or Klaus Teuber. I think the game has a definite audience, particularly in Germany, but possibly elsewhere. Once the simple 4P version is completed I would be very interested in licensing the game/making some agreement with either Mr. Teuber or Mayfair Games, even though I don't estimate it would sell more than 1000 copies. If an agreement could be made with them (I don't really have any money to put upfront, so any agreement would have to be done based on a percentage royalty basis) I would really like to have the original boardgame textures in there. Don't worry though, it will be *very* easy to put your own boardgame scans into the game if this scenario doesn't come to fruition.

The textures are currently stored in Jpeg files. They're stored kind of strangely, so I can send a sample as a template to help you make your textures compatible. Here are the textures I know that I will need: Terrain Textures (256 x 256 each) -
-Hills (Brick Production)
-Meadows (Sheep Production)
-Mountains (Ore Production)
-Forest (Wood Production)
-Fields (Wheat Production)
-Desert
-Ocean
-Ports (different types of production 2:1 + generic 3:1)
Card Textures (128 x 128 each) - These will be smaller because they appear smaller onscreen than the terrain textures. The North American board game cards have the background from the terrain, with the production element in the foreground, but by no means feel constrained to this style.
-Bricks
-Sheep
-Ore
-Wood
-Wheat
-Soldier
-Monopoly
-Year of Plenty
-Road Building
-Victory Points (University, Library, City Hall, Cathedral)
Also I'm looking for a title screen, but as there has been a fair amount of interest in helping with the art, I may have a contest to see who can make the best original medieval theme title screen. People who contribute will of course be credited in the game and on my CatanDC page when it gets put up :D
