I've seen these all over eBay, and a while back I have heard that some people on the board have actually made them. THis is for the people who made them. How are they? What is needed to make them? Is it worth it? Is it easy? thanks, maybe i'll make one, I think it involves a magnifing glass and a free wall, If sum1 can give me directions on how to do it I would be greatfull, thanx :)

I've always been interested in these too - I have a 28" TV in my room, and I've got plenty of free wall space. How big could I make the image without it going too crappy?

They suck. You have to buy a crappy tv unless you want to turn a new one upside down. The picture doesn't get better than what the tv shows. It looks ugly and messed up. Don't buy the instructions. Just search on google.com for it.
Here's one that I found:

just use 2 lenses and it souldnt need to be upside down rite?

Plus i dont care if it looks better, it should look fine, due to the fact that it just magnifies the image, right? Hey anything is better than y crappy ancient 19'' tv right now, it would prolly be a col cheap projct anyway ;)

I suppose, but I don't think you would be able see very clearly during the day, and the sound would be coming from behind you, unless you move the speakers to the wall, but you wouldn't be able to do that if the speakers are inside the TV.

One simple problem: Not bright enough

Works fine in low lighting conditions but even with the brightness turned way up, you can't see it during the day. On second thoughts, you may have better results with a CRT, I was using a TFT (which isn't as bright as a standard monitor)

Anyone know where you can buy a ready-made one for a set screen size?

I made one with a friend of mine. We used a page magnifier from Barnes & Noble, some cardboard and a mirror we had cut to the same size as the screen. It was cool just to play with, but it wasn't something that would be usable. Among other problems, it was too dark.

No, we built it so the TV sat on its back, so the screen was pointed straight up. Yhis worked out perfectly, because the image was reversed, we put a mirror in there at a 45' angle to the screen, so it flipped the image and pointed it at the wall.
