Im as fed up with this 2x pice-of-shit as Samiur and Micheal were with that printer. Its a SONY Spressa thet never has worked totally.
Can someone recommend one that has good mac support fot osx/toast. Nice speed. And under 200$ (external).
Also, how easy is it to buy an internal, and put it in my old sonys case?
A good burner to buy?

If you have a B&W G3 or a grey G4 and only have a cd rom drive (dont do this if you have a DVD drive in your computer) just buy a generic PC burner and replace the current drive in your computer with the pc bruner. Just make sure toast supports it at roxios website. I got a TDK 12x10x32 and works just fine.
BTW replacing the Sony drive with a PC one ecternal will probably not make much differance. You still will be burning at 2X because of the transfer speed of USB (it should) for some odd reason cant keep up with 4X burns. I had the same problem with my USB burner

i use an imac.
so I can just buy an el-cheapo internal drive and put it in the old case?
i dont mind 2x though. its not so much the speed of my current drive that bugs me, its teh general suckiness.

there are 3 computers in my house. my dads G4, my imac, my brothers B&W G3. My dad is going to buy an internal, my brother gets the old shitty one. and im getting a new imac soon, so i can just wait. Another question.
How difficult is it to put in an IDE drive? (mydads G4)

Where's toastman? I'm bored.
It not too hard to install. just the power cord could be a pain to pull off the old drive. just wiggle it while you pull hard. I used these instructions to install mine
