Classic Game Room reviews STURMWIND for Sega Dreamcast from Duranik and RedSpot Games, a side scrollig space ship shoot 'em up released in 2013 for the supposedly dead game console! Sturmwind means Axelay meets Thunder Force (it doesn't but it could) and rocks the Dreamcast with intense gameplay, amazing level design and kickin' tunes. SHMUP fans and those looking for new Dreamcast releases should pick this up at once, it's great! CGR Sturmwind video review features Sturmwind Sega Dreamcast gameplay in HD action!

Re: Classic Game Room review of STURMWIND
I love classic game room. One of the few gaming subscriptions I have on youtube. Mark of CGR just seems to enjoy games in their purest form. He did a review of a few other indie DC releases IIRC.

Re: Classic Game Room review of STURMWIND
I think he also reviewed Fast Striker 1.5 and Dux 1.5
seemed to like both of them, though I suspect them being on the dreamcast gives them extra points w/ him. He'd like them even more if they were on the Vectrex!
I also tend to like CGR.

I can confirm those suspicions!
I would never have played any shooter if they were on another platform. As much as I love Sturmwind I would have probably ignored it on another platform.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I probably never would have tried playing shmups in general if it weren't for the Dreamcast Scene. I probably never would have realised how fun they are.

Re: Classic Game Room review of STURMWIND
I've played quite a few shooters, but I can't say I've enjoyed any of them as much as Sturmwind.
Sure, a lot of them have better Graphics most notably Ikaruga/Border Down but the inventory/health management system in Sturmwind is unparalleled.

It is pretty fun to be able to repair your weapons to keep going through a level, and also switching weapons in order to better be able to make it through a stage. I especially like the Nordwest, because it helps a lot with a lot of the more tricky segments of levels / bosses. It can totally alleviate a lot of the complaints people have with enemies coming out of nowhere, in some of the less favorable reviews

just watched an episode of gamesack (it was about abandoned / forgotten games). looks like a good show. I'll have to look up a few more of those.
